Don't take clonidine to help you sleep. It's designed to lower your blood pressure which is something you really shouldn't be messing around with just in the hopes of eliciting drowsiness as a side effect. If you need medication for sleep, see your doctor to get your own prescription - there are many safe, non-habit forming medications available. If you aren't up to visiting the doctor, get some benadryl over the counter. It causes drowsiness much more reliably than clonidine and its primary antihistamine effect is completely benign.

If its a blood pressure pill and not prescribed for you, it could definitely do more harm than good. Seems like it slows ur bp way down. If u have that much trouble sleeping tell ur doctor. Theres plenty of sleep aids out there. There is also over the counter sleep aids that arent that exepensive.

Clonidine or Catapress...the brand name...is specific for high blood pressure. It makes you sleepy because it lowers blood pressure by working through the central nervous system. Don't take medication not prescribed for you. It has other side effects other than somnebulance.

You should NEVER EVER take pills that were not prescribed to you. Your doctor knows what is best for you. Taking these pills could lower your blood pressure, yes, but if you have normal blood pressure, it could lower your blood pressure TOO MUCH and yes, you could die.

Do NOT take medication prescribed for someone else!!! That is very dangerous. Blood pressure medication is for the purpose of lowering blood pressure, not for a sleeping aid! It's true that some blood pressure meds cause drowsiness, but please don't take them unless they are prescribed for you.

not ok. Try getting some catnip tea. Catnip tea tastes nasty, but it relaxes you, unlike a cat, and helps you go to sleep. Allergy medications can also make you sleepy.

I think it is criminal negligence for your friend to have given you a drug requiring prescription. DON'T EVER TAKE THAT PILL WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR.. besides, it is not even a sleeping pill for christ's sake!
