I'm not sure if I could pick up everything right now and go live Amish style, but throughout time i think I could grow to be able to.

I once read this book (The Shunning) about a girl in an AMish community. Well, one of the residents of the local non-Amish town had asked the girl's father how they could live without electricity and everything the rest of the world had, and the father told him "It's easy to live without something you've never had." So I guess I could grow up with it and be ok, but it would be hard to just one day pick everything up and live that life.

No because Amish communities are very religious and many times there is abuse involved in the families, for example many times there have been cases were a daughter was being abused sexually by a brother or father and the reason was because 'she didn't pray hard enough'. Plus many times they are ignorant to what is happening in the real world and as a young woman I would be deprived of my equality and higher education.

If I was born in the faith, no problem. Living a simple life is a peaceful life for people who wants to get out of the harsh conditions in the city. It is good for people who have a very limited amount of money to survive and still be happy. One just have to know the virtue of prayers. works and honest lifestyle.

I live near the Amish and no I could not. I do admire them for staying true to their beliefs. I see them in the restaurant and they live simplistically, which sometimes sounds very appealing.

However, I like running water too much!!

Yes, I could. It would be a physically hard life, but a rewarding one just the same. People would be forced to rely on others, instead of machines to help them, which would actually be a nice change from our whining because "the microwave takes too long"!
