I am fostering 6 kittens right now so maybe this will be comforting...Go to the store and get the KMR kitten milk replacent, just born kitten replacement milk will be fine too. Grab a bottle at the pet store too. You will need to cut a small hole in the nipple. Large enough for the milk to drip out slowly, but not flow. DO NOT MICROWAVE THE MILK. Put hot water in a separate cup and put the bottle in it for 2-3 minutes to warm it. Test the temp on your wrist. Shake the bottle to make sure the temp. is consistant throughout. At 4 weeks, they may also be able to lap up the milk. mine were. They will need more protien, so get a good quality wet food like natural balance (its all stages of cats lifes) Eukanuba kitten, or Nutro complete kitten care. The recalled food has been taken off of the shelves and replaced w/ fresh foods...so dont worry too much about these. Please dont use something like whiskas...it has too many biproducts for a developing digestive systems and will just upset their stomaches. If they dont take to the wet food.. you can mix it in their bowl w/ a little KMR. At this age my kittens were also showing interest in dry food as well...Try a good dry kitten food w/ a little warm water to soften it up...as they get a little older you can start limitting the water. Also, mine started having interest in water at 4.5 weeks, so have it out so they can at least get familiar with it. My kittens were urinating and defacating at 4 weeks, and beginning to become FAMILIAR with a litter box...it didnt always work but they were getting the hang of it. If they arent going potty on their own, you will have to wet a CLEAN rag w/ warm water and softly tap and rub the genitals and anus to get them to go on their own. If they are...you may want to introduce them to a VERY shallow litter box w/ a simple, sandlike litter..(I used a 3inch deep box top to start with and swheat scoop litter.) You may also want to put newspaper under the box. As soon as they take to the shallow box, you may upgade them slowly to a deeper box of 4-5 inches.. Make sure that they are in a warm place...a heating pad under their bed or towels may be needed. Also, giving them warm baths in baby shampoo every once in a while teaches them to groom themselves...i hope i have helped....it takes some time but its worth it. Good luck w/your kittens!!

At this age, the kittens still need milk - get some kitten milk replacement formula from a pet shop or vets, and feed them whenever they cry for it, as much as they want.
4 weeks is also the earliest age kittens may start to move onto solid food. Put a shallow plate of canned kitten food out for them, they should start to feed from it soon. They should be fully weaned between 6-8 weeks of age.
Do keep the kittens inside until they've been neutered and vaccinated - and they will need to be fleaed and wormed. Go to your vets for the correct treatment.

Top answer is KMR kitten milk (petsmart or Petco) and NO REFRIGERATOR HUMAN MILK!
Also put out the small bowl or plate with KITTEN canned food - and not the cheap kind! My kittens were eating moms dry food from the time they got teeth! But the kittens should have the soft or put out dry Purina Kittenchow (keep out 24/7 for the dry)- they will eat which one they like. ALSO WATCH OUT FOR THE RECALLED FOOD! Stick with Purina or Friskies (same brand) I know their food is OK
If they are not inside bring them in - if mom doesnt return - they will die then do all of the above.
Also AAA++ for calling the vet and getting info from him about the food and getting them to pee/poop without mom around

If you have enough money go to pet-co and get some kitten formula and a syringe and feed them warmed kitten milk..If not get some canned milk or just whole milk and get some baby formula like wheat or rice and warm the milk and mix in a half teaspoon baby cereal together and feed them slowly in the syringe they will love it and will keep them healthy,,YOU will also have to get a warmed rag and touch their bottoms gently back and forth a few times so they can pee as mama usually licks there to get the pee coming out... good luck i had to do this many times for my cats and stray cats that mom;s were killed or run off.,.

How long has their mother been gone? If it's just a few hours she might return. Can they eat on their own? It is challenging to keep kittens alive otherwise (think round the clock droppers filled with milk). Try putting a saucer of milk and water (lots of water) out for them - no hard food.
However, one of the first things you need to do is call a veternarian. If the cat and kittens are not yours, also check with many cat/animal rescue groups out there (check the phone book), they can also help you.
Good luck - you're doing a good deed!

You will need to get formula from the pet store. DO NOT FEED THEM MILK FROM YOUR REFIRGERATOR! It does not have the nutrients they need. I have had my cat since he was 8 days old (he is now over a year) and here are 2 websites I found VERY helpful:

you need to give kmr from a bottle at wrist temp and no hotter, when bottle feedin lay kitten on tummy and hold bottle at 45degrees less chance of kmr going onto lungs if they start to caough keep them upright head to ceiling and bottom to earth. if they are weeing and pooing by themselves that is good if not warm moist cotton wool and rub from ribs down to bottom till they go. also blend down kitten meat to a puree and give a small amounts might have to put in mouths till they get used to eating from a bowl. hope this helps

if you want to feed them now, take some milk, boil but not too much. If they cant drink it from the pot, then take a small spoon and feed it to them from the side that we normally hold it.
