I am not talking about lifting weights or pushups… while watching UFC fighters training…rampage was chopping wood…and chuck was throwing a medicine ball, the coach said it builds explosiveness and simulates a punch…does anyone know which exercises are the most effective? I don’t want to build muscles in my arms, I just want to build knock out power and Explosiveness …

Extend your arm fully until it is about 1 in from a wall. begin punching at at even pace for 3 min make sure you time it and aim for the same spot.. Then take a 1 min break and repeat.. Daily for about a month. good luck.

Power in punching and kicking comes from a combination of technique and timing. Proper technique coupled with perfect timing equals Power.

Quickness comes from a combination of perfect practice and a relaxed, but not sloppy delivery. Practicing a technique over and over imprints the necessary movements in muscle memory. Once you have achieved proper muscle memory all you will no longer have to think about all of the steps involved -All you have to do is react.

My suggestion is that you train your mind to think only about the result you want to achieve, namely, CONTACT. If you do this and you don't get your mind cluttered with all the thoughts of how you are going to get your fists or your feet or shins from point "A" to point "B", you will increase your quickness dramatically.

There are no secret workout techniques that will magically give you explosive knockout power. Workout on the heavy bag, shadow box and spar in order to perfect your technique and timing. That's what you do. It has always worked and it will work for you too.

You'll need to do a lot of tricep related work. Push-ups with on your fists placed low (adjacent to your lung area) is probably the best since it really works your tendons for that bursting power plus it simultaneously conditions your knuckles so you can pack a punch without bruising. Also work the forearms. But you ought to work with balance as you don't want distorting in your body.

I know you said no push-ups but clap push-ups are good for explosive power.
