What you need to do is work out what you need to eat, so that you get the right balance of nutrients. Then match this with what you like to eat. Personally I am against diets. Your diet should be what you eat. It should be a for life thing, not a temporary get out of jail card.

So really you want to enjoy eating, you want to enjoy the experience of eating, and what you will probably find is that you will enjoy the healthier foods more than junk and confectionery.

Once you are satisfied that you are eating well, and your diet is healthy. No you don't go on a diet. You consider your life style, and make sure that your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are being met. The chances are that will take the rest of your life as there are no quick fixes.

It would be dangerous to not eat at all. You would start to feel really ill. Have no energy, feel very sick. The weight you would lose. You would put it on again twice as quick. You need to follow a healthy diet. 12 weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers. I weighed in at 13stone. I now weigh 10st 10lbs. It is a really easy diet to follow. I have not felt hungry once. Look into it. If I can do it,I'm sure you can. Good luck.

You would be amazed how fast not eating at all can become obsessive and totally take your head over. The thing with anorexia is that once it gets a hold on you, even when you KNOW you need to stop and eat properly the addiction of the control you feel you have over food is SO STRONG it is much harder to battle with than having low will power about dieting.
If you are having trouble sticking to a diet then go to your doctor and tell them that you have poor willpower, they should be able to help you by finding a diet that suits you and that you find easier to commit to.
When you are overweight (and you haven't actually said that you are, so I am a little concerned about that too) anorexia can almost seem like a great cure or something semi-glamourous. It's not. Your hair and nails get weak. You are tired all the time. You wake thinking of food, you think of it all day, you forget what things taste of because how many calories and fat points become more important and the primary thought. You can't socialise like you used to because you can't eat with people, and no one sees you as a person anymore they see you as a disorder. You go to bed thinking of food, you dream of food. Eventually your periods stop and you think you are being punished and will never have children. You put a hideous amount of strain on your internal organs. You can't concentrate on anything because your brain needs food to function, and yet even when you can't string a conversation together with someone, if they ask how many calories there are in the snack you are staring at them eating you will know without looking it up. Your skin gets dry, and soft hairs start to grow all over much thicker than before as your body struggles to keep it's temperature regulated. You have to wear jumpers in summer because you are cold, and because you have to hide how skeletal you have become. And you look at all that you have done to yourself and you still can't stop.
Really REALLY it is so much better to be a bit cuddly than to be like that. Dawn French never stopped being beautiful just because she hasn't got a body like Kate Moss.

If you don't eat at all your body will go into starvation mode and you will store fat.
You don't need to go on a diet you just need to eat healthily. You should eat less calories than you consume. You should try to eat about 1500 calories a day and cut out eating junk food and if you get hungry between meals you can snack on fruit and veg.
You need to exercise as well, you could get a membership to a gym and get someone to make you a programme. You should aim to go at least 4 times a week. Or if you can't go to the gym you could go out jogging for an hour a day.

I don't suggest that you do that, and don't worry, I'm not going to lecture you like you're five years old.

I'm just saying don't do that because if you don't eat then your metabolism slows down and then you actually lose weight a lot slower. Plus total fasting is even harder to stick to, and can lead to binging, which will make your weight skyrocket because of the slowed metabolism.

It's not even so much that it's dangerous as it is that it's just plain ineffective.

Dangerous, and in the long run it will cause you to gain weight by slowing the rate at which you metabolize food to a crawl. Eat more often, but eat smaller portions, and eat healthier things. You'll have energy to accomplish your daily routines, and you won't get hungry enough to binge when you do eat. Add to that subtle changes to increase your physical activity, and you'll begin losing weight safely in no time.

You don't have to diet as such just cut down the quantity you eat drink more water and get more exercise even if it's only walking more. It's all to do with energy balance, if you burn more fuel than you put in you will lose weight. GO FOR IT.
