I used UTorrent to download 2 episodes of 24, when i play them all i hear is sound and the picture is the windows media effects as if i were playing a song?
It is called a Xvid-XOR so i'm guessing that I need a patch or something to help view the picture.
It says "XVID CODEC required to play this file"
If I put this file straight onto a DVD without downloading this XVID codec thing, would the picture show?
Oh yeah and i have roxio CD burner but there doesn't seem to be an option to burn a DVD? x

yes you are right, you need to download a certain codec and install it on your computer to view the video of the file.

I recommend getting Vlc player. You don't need to install a codec for it and it will work anyway.
Go to http://www.versiontracker.com to find vlc player and it will appear to download or use it to try the codecs the other people say in your question.

I'd advise getting the k-lite codec pack, use yahoo search to find a free download for it :)
