We just got rid of a cat only to find out it had left behind 3 kittens and I had decided to keep one,I did not think they had any fleas because I looked fairly well on them. I have a BAD flea phobia due to bad cases in the past but decided to try one of the kittens inside anyways, I gave him a bath and put Advantage on him lastnight (he is about 8-9 weeks old). But as I was holding him I saw a flea and threw him outside right away which means he had contact with the other two kittens for the whole night. Then I read that it takes 24-48 hours for the Advantage to work so I brought him back inside and put him in the bathroom today, I was just wanting to know if even tho I put him back outside with the others for the night if the Advantage will still work and kill ALL of the fleas and flea eggs. Considering I have carpet it is a lot harder to get rid of the fleas if there is an outbreak.

Actually I did not "Throw" the kitten out, I put him out and as I said, I do have a flea phobia. That means I go crazy at the mere sight of one. We did not know that the cat had had kittens until we had already gotten rid of her because she was wild and really had no control over her. I do not know where she is because we let a neighbor take her away for us and we do feed the kittens and take care of them, and we will be finding good homes for them.

The Advantage will be active for about a month. If the house is badly infested you may still need premise treatment.
Please bring the other kittens to a responsible shelter rather than leaving them outside.

How so much does your cat weigh? Under 9lbs or over 9lbs? Most if now not all topical flea drugs ought to be carried out in keeping with the animal's weight- when you use the below 9lb dose on a cat that weighs 10 or extra kilos, the animal won't get the whole improvement of the product. Do you spot wherein I'm going with this? The purpose why the Hartz product didn't paintings is seeing that the fleas are resistant to it. Ever heard of the pronouncing "You get what you pay for?" Anyway, Advantage as a topical cure works via killing grownup fleas and finally the flea eggs when you use it constantly- one million dose is carried out as soon as a month, and your cat is included for that month till the following dose is carried out. So you'll be able to use the Advantage at every time- simply now not with different topical flea manage drugs just like the Hartz merchandise. Hope this helped.

This bothers me. What are you doing, leaving 8 week old kittens outside? And chucking the poor one you chose outside because of a flea?! If you have a flea phobia, you really need to get over it before you own animals!!

Advantage kills adult fleas, it does not kill flea eggs. You need to use the Advantage once a month, and spray your house regularly too. Fleas are quite hard to get rid of completely.

For the kittens sake, please take them to a shelter or at least call a shelter who will come and pick them up. You're really not being fair on them.

Reading your story I'm a bit more concerned on how you got rid of the mom. What did you do to her? Did you take her to a shelter? How come you're just leaving the other kittens outside by themselves. That's extremely cruel to say the least. Why don't you take the other kittens to the shelter or at least ask your parents to do it. The kittens need their mom to feed them and protect them or they will die. I don’t know how you can just take one and leave the others to their fait. I'm also a little disturbed that you threw the kitten out of the house because of a flea. Quite frankly I don't think you're qualified to be a pet owner. If your cat has fleas, take him to a vet for the proper medication and do take the other kittens to Animal Care and Control or at least call them and have them come to your house to pick them up, don’t just leave them out there to die.
