It's either the upgrade package or the retail package for twice the cash. I would like to install a clean install on my hard drive though, so should I buy the retail one then or would it still let me under the upgrade?

Yes it is possible. You do have to upgrade from within XP, but there is an option for a clean install which will give you what you want. I am really surprised that three people up to this point have gotten this question so totally wrong, because it is not that difficult a question. If you want further information, please feel free to email me.

If I'm understanding.. You want to do a complete fresh install of Vista Ultamate and not upgrade with only the upgrade software. Sorry to say, It's not possible. Even Vista Ultamate "Upgrade" Needs a base for install. The full version has it's own base for install. Sorry, I know it's not what you want to hear. But no it's not possible.
