Uninvited? America didn't secure the border. American businesses employed them by the millions while American law enforcement looked the other way. And its been going on for 20 years. We did invite them, through the back door with a nudge and a wink.

I suspect there are a LOT more than "12 million" illegals, or there are a great many undocumented workers from other countries, or both.
No, we cannot just give them "amnesty". We cannot just be a milktoast and say, "Yeah, you broke our laws, but it's okay. You're welcome here." How is THAT for a slap in the face to the millions who jumped through all the hoops and waited 1000 forevers to get their visas to come to the US legally? Is their wanting to do the right thing, and legally, just a punishment? They don't get anything better than someone who later decided to just cross the border or jump on a boat or plane and come?

I have sent to my senator (the Democrat one I know is hopeless so I didn't bother) and my rep. You are right it can not pass but I think it is not going to pass as is hopefully the bill is defeated in full though.

kobacker59. My grandparents came to this country from Polan and France, but they did it legally. They had to go through Ellis Island and all the hoops, just because we are a "welcoming country" doesn't negate the facts that you can come to America-legally. Any other way is illegal.

We are a nation of welcoming. . .just look at the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty. All are welcome in this nation's more advanced areas.
