Well, how do you feel she is progressing? Do you feel like she speaks as an 8 year old should speak. It's really hard, because 8 is awfully young, and you seem to have fairly high expectations for what she should be doing. I actually read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was in fifth grade (so I must have been 9 or 10), so the reading seems appropriate to me. Of course, this was over 10 years ago, so maybe she should be doing more... I would advice that you pull her out of the school she is in, and put her in one that focuses more on math and science then on God. It is ABSOLUTELY your place to limit your child's religious education, while she is at school. If she enjoys it, then let her explore it, but that is not what elementary school is for. She should be getting the fundamentals for higher learning, and if you feel she isn't, it is your responsibility to get her somewhere that she will. ** I will say, sometimes the teachers are just checking to see if the work is done, not correcting it. That *may* be why there were spelling mistakes. And as far as the Narnia and puzzles day, they may be giving the kids busy work, because its the end of the school year. A lot of classrooms do more "fun" activities around this time, so the real grading can be done.

Whats wrong with walking out your front door, smiling nicely at english people, don't jump on the 'racist' wagon and actually spaeking to the natives?
Try it..... we only bite if you beg very nicely!
My boyf has only been in England one year, we met when he was here only 10 days.
He learnt very quickly and speaks better English than some who have been here 5 years.
Leaving the large cities where there are too many foreigners helps, how can you perfect your english learning off people with foreign accents?.... Or for that matter a website?
Good Luck

Hi!
Welcome to England! Rather late after two years, but sincerely said.
You probably know you can find an ESOL class locally (your local library will be able to point you in the right direction). Not sure where you are, but we have lots of opportunities in my community for learning English, including IT and even a community allotment and drop in where local people and relative newcomers can learn things from each other.
Good wishes.

You mean you've been here for two years and still haven't learnt the language??..Don't worry, there are people in Wales who have been here for much longer than that and have the cheek to call themselves Welsh who can't string a sentence together in the language of their country.
Good luck, I admire you for being willing to learn.
