You need to understand when this was written.
Moses wrote Genesis 1000's of years later, after swords were used by men.
Many things about God are written in human terms so that we can understand it.
No it is not a sin to question if we have an open heart.
As to animals at this time, man had no fear of animals nor were animals afraid of man.

No it did not. If you see an angel standing there guarding something with a sword, why would your instinct be that "war is okay?" I understand what you are saying, but how one would see something like that, and somehow get the idea that they should start a war, is hard to grasp. The angel never had to use the sword. A "wolf or mean dog" could have easily been dealt with by one or a few men teaming up together as well as a fence and padlock could have easily been conquered.

I dont think the people who wrote the bible are the same ones who did the drawings. And-I dont think men needed to look at a sword to give them the idea that war was a way to handle their problems. It's been documented that before modern weapons were made, cavemen picked up rocks and sharpened sticks to protect themselves. If you want-you can pick the bible apart. The atheists love it when you do that.
Find a good pastor and go to bible class. At least get another point of view.

Hello, First of all I want to say, I cannot answer your question as you wish; however I can offer you some great direction on answering your question.
There are certain passages that cannot be looked at literally, but symbolically vice versa and there are people who specialize in this type of study. Do not listen to the people above who degrade the word of god. The bible is in the inspired, infallible word of god and there is so much scientific, historically confirmed, and prophetic evidence of it's written words and events.
Go to Calvarychapel.com and there are a full list of pastors..most of them are very well learned in bible prophecy etc and can give you a full answer to your question
also remember John 3:16 for god so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life"
I also recommend a great book by Josh Mcdowell called " Evidence for Christianity" once an un-believer he set out to prove it wrong, but instead found he could not
God Bless

I really think that ferocious ever grinning Satan has put such tendentious wicked questions in your mind and is ready to put even more questions of that sinful and malicious type
in order to tempt you so that you may commit various sins of skepticism, incredulity etc. so that when you die and appear in front of Heaven's Holy Mighty Door the Helpers of St. Peter will deny to let you in and so will leave you in the hands of the nearby standing helpers of merciless ever grinning Satan who will grab you with their firm hands and hurl you down into the ever scorching fire of adjacent Hell for perennial damnation.
You should humbly believe in everything in the Holy Bible with all your capabilities, with all your strength, and be immensely happy of being allowed to read the Holy Book for yourself, and so think that where you do not understand, where there is no sensible sense, where description sounds absurd, the Saintly Explanation for you is that "the ways of our Almighty Lord are past understanding".
You must also remember that up to a few hundred years ago the blunt Christian populace was not allowed to read the Holy Bible because the Holy Fathers and Holy Herders (Pastors) of our Holy Mother Church did not want their faithful community to be exposed to the dangers of some unhauthorized interpretations and misunderstandings.
There is an immense transcendental Holy Meaning behind the Holy Biblical Message that is not up to you to grasp nor to fetch. Not yet. Maybe never in your present state of evolution.
Good luck to you!

that doesn't make war OK, because people are scared of the flaming sword, so why would they want to start war! and God knows everything,He knows what day you or I shall die, and if we will be with Him ...or not, so God would know about swords. I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions I may be able to help you and if this doesn't help I could ask my parents about it for a more in depth answer, so if you have more questions write me at dudawiesner@yahoo.com this is a very serious subject for me and I would love to help if you have any more questions!

A very good point it is that you make.
Yes indeed, why not just a gate with a padlock and a few "Keep Out" signs.
It is of course because it was just a myth enjoyed by a war loving tribe of middle eastern desert dwellers.

That's a good thought, very interesting, yes how come there's a sword before there were men to use them.
It says something about God doesn't it?

Jehovah used a sword with fire so they would not try to pass. There was no war yet.
God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts so I cannot tell you why except he made sure nothing could pass.
And it stayed there for hundreds of years until the flood of Noah's day....Noah was Adams grandson and they all lived almost 1000 years.

If you believe in the bible, that's cool. But you can't honestly believe that everything in there is literally true. You'll go crazy trying to iron out the inconsistancies and crazy stories.
