Up until about 3 months or so ago - everytime I set foot on a bike (cycling) I'd come off pretty quick. Attempted to cycle a few times as a child but my Brother would give up with me crashing all the time & just stick me on his bike & peddle for us both.
I never really got the hang of it as an adult either, one of my sons (then age about 11) tried teaching me about 10 years ago - he says I was the only one he knew that could crash into a stationary car LOL :-)
Had another attempt about a year ago but just wasn't managing to drop the fear of falling off I guess, which is ironic, because that's all I seemed to do anyway.
Then about 3 months ago I thought "stuff this, it's not gonna beat me" so off I went & bought my very first bike - had 2 cycling lessons - so I wasn't a danger to anyone around me - went over the park early in the mornings & just practiced, practiced, practiced.
"Hired" hubby as my personal trainer & went out every single day for the past 8 weeks.
continued below..

Progressed from the park to the side roads & then onto the main ones with hubby behind me all the way calling out encouragement…..nearly died when I passed my very first bus on the high street. J
I’ve been training for this day starting at around 4 miles a day (whoopee) & have worked up to on average 30 miles or more each day now - I’ve already done well over 50 miles at one go so I know I can stay the distance…..no biggie I’m sure to most of you here, but it is to me.
Well, here I am at last a cyclist & although I’m not the first & I know I won’t be the last - I’m doing the London to Brighton Bike run tomorrow - leaving time 6:30 am.
I’ve worked so hard for this day & I’m soooo ready.
Please WISH ME LUCK GUYS - KB x

WOW! Thanks guys - you're all so sweet.....I'll be honest, there's been a lot of tears, a lot of tantrums & more than a lot of falling off, but I'm just so pleased that I never gave up.
Yea! I am kinda proud of me I guess.

My brother's very proud of me too. So of course is hubby....He's trained me so well, I leave him standing whenever we go out cycling now......

Good Luck to you, you deserve it after putting in sooo much effort! I sucked at bike-riding when I was a kid, and judging by my performance last time I cycled, I haven't improved at all since then!
