Actually, there are. It all depends on the church. Most denominations require pastors to go to seminary. A lot of seminaries have courses in Biblical languages, history of theology, etc. Other churches that don't require a degree train pastors on spot, like an apprenticeship.

Depends on the domination.
Some require nothing.
Others require a 4 year degree in that religion.
They also require cont. education so the learning never stops.

Seriously, who would set the standards? Wouldn't that exclude a humanist minister like me, since those kinds of schools are religious?

Most denominations require a degree in divinity or religious studies from that denominations university - like southern baptist university in texas.

I don't think there should be. It's not like it's an important job, but if they are going to serve as a councilor or therapist, then they should have a degree in psychology.

I think you can get a certificate out of one of those bubble gum type machines, they come in a plastic bubble of various snappy colors.

If these people ever became educated, they wouldn't be able to believe any of that crap they preach... they'd have to get a real job.... OMG what a nightmare.
