24 yrs. my husband and i have been together since 14, married for 6 years, and we still have stares everywhere we go. I am white, he is spanish ( and muy caliente'), he is very proffesional and we are pretty well to do, but people still stare like we are the scum of the earth. will this ever be accepted?

it's not so much me that i am concerned about, we have a 6 year old that suffers from the nasty awkward stares!

Just ignore people, when they stare hold on tighter to him or even give him a kiss. Now that is giving them something to stare at.

Two things could make this worse: the part of the country you live in, and that you are pretty well off.
When I moved to LA from Oregon and had my first real contact with wealthy people as peers, I was shocked at the casual racism and sense of hierarchy going as far as to look down on some ethnic groups that I sort of looked up to. For example, as a middle middle class kid, I thought Jews and Asians were "better" than most white people because they pushed their kids to do well in school, and therefore they were better at upward mobility, but here I found that old money WASP people look down on those groups as new money and climbers.
Among people I grew up with, Latinos were not considered outsiders regardless of how dark they were, but one of my Latino students told me that when a rich white friend took them along to a party in Malibu, the host saw them and thought they were gangbangers crashing the party and called the cops.
My point is, if you are waiting to be accepted by the country club set, you may have a long wait.

Only if the future becomes like Star Trek.There are too many people who hate anything different.Just ignore the stares.they will go away.
I am married to a black woman,we have been together 27 years,24 years as man and wife.I sometimes get confrontational.I have been known to ask people "Havent you seen a couple in love before?"My wife then comes up and says "Forgive him,he doesnt like other guys staring at me.He gets very jealous,even after all these years."Dont let the jerks get to you.

Jessica...... just IGNORE those s*bs. There will always be people against interracial union. But interracial marriage is going strong everywhere - black/white, brown/white/, yellow/white, and every color in-between. You know what really amazes me? Most of the racism in America is from whites because they are the majority, but it is white males who are leading the pack in marrying outside their color.

Probably not because of all the hate. I am half-Latina myself, and it bugs me to find that I am not "supposed" to like anyone but Hispanics! It seems wrong.
I think you should just ignore what others think and move on. If they hate you, be proud that it has not ruined or lessened your love!!
