Maybe you can add in 'right attitude' and 'to grow up to be a sensitive(exclude oversensitve) person'. I have to stress out also that the father has to communicate to his son his love everyday. Take note also that too much love or too little/no love spoils a child. I hope this helps.

I try to teach my son to be half the man my Father was. To always keep his word. To never back down when he is right but to be smart and never fight battles for the sake of the fight. I teach him morals and values.
Whenever I am with my son I try to remember my Father with me when i was that age. Teaching me to help my Mom, to protect my sister. To love and serve my country, to but God and service to Him before all.
To know that a man is not measured by how many people he can beat but by how many people he can save.
I try to teach my son what the country song says "You have to stand for something or you'll fall for every thing."
I teach him to learn from my mistakes. To never let love slip though his fingers and never ever give up on love because God works miracles in the strangest places
I teach him to love

My father taught my many things. He taught me to love God, Respect my parents, to respect women , treat others kindly, have self respect, and how to conduct myself in public. I think a male role model like a father does teach children what a man is.

All of the above. And no, none of that comes from any book. It's what my father taught me, without any help from a supernatural source.

My father taught me (now a grandmother) that women are stupid and inferior and not entitled to their opinions. He taught me that they are servants and punching bags. He taught me that hating anyone different from you was a good thing. He taught me that educated people were a joke and not to be trusted.
Fortunately, I refused to accept those lessons.

Both parents work together to teach their children these things, regardless of their genders.
