I like Scifi, and I'm a Christian, I liked the Hulk, the Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Spidy, Superman, (Batman begins was not what I thought) The Fantastic Four, Star Trek, I Robot, X-men, The Transformers, etc I like them all.

However with all the great CGI and effects now available to movie makers why not remake Mr DeMills epic The 10 Commandments. Or how about a triogy called "The acts of the Apostles, Starting with the 40 days Jesys returned and stayed with the Apostles thru the Day of Pentecost, and follow the building of the Church. Reasearch the historical accounts of what happened to the original 12, and just make a great epic movie of Gods goodness, as these 12 men took this message to what is now 2000 years later the ends of the earth.

I hope someone like Speilberg, or Gibson reads thios and gets busy as the financial success of The Passion would prove the worth of these types of movie projects.

Any thoughts???? Any producers????

I posted in other catagories as well and I was hoping to get a better response than I did. All in all I guess America isn't ready for the truth I mean really Rob Zombie is gonna remake halloween, (wasn't Mr Myers up to #13 when that quit makin them, I thought he met up with Freddy or sumpthin). And then there was that epic 2006 Christmas movie "Black Christmas" (pls not I didn't spend money to see these flicks and I quit watchin Freddy after the 6th sequal)

All that is in the past now as I have rededicated my life to Christ, and I highly recommend that you don't either.
I believe that these films are designed to desencitize us to the actual violence and sexual behavior that we should avoid. The addage "seeing is believing" is not far from being true.

The question is going out to the community for a vote, as I can't pick 2 or three best ones ( you know who you are)
and I want to keep the issue alive as long as I can.

God Bless
al 4 now B

I think it would be Great!! I am so sick of watching crap (for lack of a better word) on TV and in the Theatres..I like all the sci-fi stuff as well, but it would be nice to see some movies about what I believe.. shoot if Harry Potter can be made into a movie why can't the Greatest Book (Bible) ever written be made into one? I think what is stopping them (hollywood) from making this movie, is that no one has enough guts to stand up for their beliefs and pitch it, and that they do not seem to care that we as Christians are waiting for some good family movies that we can take our kids to or go see ourselves that aren't filled with violence (well the Bible does have wars but you know what I mean) people fornicating, and swearing and taking the Lords name in vain.. Shoot the Atheist might even like it, they could pitch it to them as a comedy since our religion is a joke to them.

The only concern I have is how out of context would they take the scripture to make a marketable movie.. Fox Family films are great you might want to check them out they are not necessarily Bible movies, but they are mostly Christian themed movies not afraid to mention Jesus and they are acceptable for families.. Check out the Last Sin Eater it is based on the Christian novel by Francine Rivers... however I am still left scratching my head as to why it was rated pg-13 no violence, no swearing, no sex, no scariness....but Harry Potter (filled with Witch craft and glorifing breaking the rules) is only PG???? Go figure

it is about time. I think of all the movies released from the 50-60s (ex. Song of Bernadette)and there was not a problem with religion being on the big screen. Now everyone thinks you are trying to convert them by putting up a Christmas display. I think they are really not tapping into a huge market that would be very viable for them. The Apostles story would be very epic and moving.

PS. I cannot believe how you ask a fair question and it becomes a forum for hate. How funny since some of the popular stories are based on Christian tales and stories (like some of the characters in the Matrix!)

I suppose that would be alright. I'd rather see really great Pagan mythology put to the screen. What I really want to see is a Native American movie made depicting life in America long before Columbus. I be thrilled if they made a movie out of the Irish Book of Invasions.

Peter Jackson has proven to be a good choice. I like Speilberg or Gibson. George Lucas could be involved in writing or producing the film but in NO WAY should he be allowed to direct again. I still have not forgiven him for Jar-Jar.

A few years ago I would have said sure. I'm an atheist but also a huge history buff.

However, after watching the gore-fest that was Passion of the Christ, I would have to pass, as that movie did a fantastic job of turning me off any and all films with a plot derived from the Bible..

edit: Mark... Lord of the Rings is not a Christian story. Tolkien had said himself that although he was a devout Christian, he greatly resented anyone seeing allegory in any of his works.

I think some classics should be left as they are and The Ten Commandments is one of them. I am not christian, but I like the movie for what it is. I would feel the same way about Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Spartacus and other Hollywood classics.

The more Hollywood re-makes, and in my own opinion, destroys classic movies in the process, the less I watch.

Great idea Bob. I would love to see a move called the Acts of the Apostles. Have you seen the movie "One Night With The King". It was the story of Esther. I was very good. I would like to see a movie about Daniel.

that's a great idea. A lot of people went to the movies that never did before because it was educational. So was the movie the bible about Noah.
those movies instantly became classics. They made most of them to bloody like Ben Hur and so parents wouldn't take their kids to see it. If it could be toned down a little bit like the ten commandments movie was. Parents would flock there.
couldn't help but make money. I'd go see it.
I did wonder what did happen to them after the bible was written. If it was close to accurate.

I like all of those movies too! I also like your idea about making more Biblical films. The only catch is that they need to make them not denominational, but to just try to stick with the bare Bible facts.
