Hmm... I still am not understanding. Maybe it's because I have a small mind, "gun plumber", so please excuse me. I fully support our troops. I have family and friends currently deployed in Iraq. Some of these friends share the same belief of the war as I: I don't believe we should be there any longer. I do understand that we can't pull our troops out immediately, but I do think we should start the process of withdrawl. We have lost enough soldiers with no end in site. Can someone please explain why the two are correlated in a less ignorant way (sorry "gun plumber" this may leave you out...)

Because when you say you don't support the war, that emboldens the terrorists, and that leads to the death of more American troops. And if causing their deaths is your way of supporting them, then I hope you never support me.

Because they are not informed and closed minded. Some do not support anything or anybody related to wars such as the Iraq war. It was the same with Vietnam. Many of the protestors now are just professional protestors. They have the group mentality; meaning they are lost souls that need to belong to something and find this to be the most visible area to be involved in. No one that I know really likes war. But, those that serve are a unique social group in our society. Our country would be in dire straights without them. I also believe that some people who are just not educated, believe supporting our troops would mean supporting the war. Look back at history and people like Jane Fonda. I have also found "groups" calling themselves Veterans, and are not, do so to get people involved in whatever their cause is; they make their living and feed off of others; like leeches do. Some make money off of others by advertising they are against the war. I have made several attempts to contact them and ask them for financial information as to what they do with their "donations", and get no response. They are living off of this war just like many companies do. Many are anti-American groups that really need to go back to wherever they came from. The bottom line is this; those that don't support our troops, those that serve our country, are uninformed, some are just mentally confused, some probably believe they are doing the right thing. But this is the United States of America and people like my husband died so others could continue to have the freedoms they do.

i agree with gunplumber alot they are just narrow minded. i am a soliders wife he is currently deployed to iraq. he didnt want to leave his family behind and fight a war and i want my husband home too. but i respect him completely for risking his life every day and serving his country.

plus war is an awful thing i dont know anyone that suports the actual act of war. some dont believe in political grey areas but politics is designed for grey areas. what i dont understand is why others cant simply respect someones beliefs that they suport the troops but not the war. just because they cant see it both ways doesnt mean that you and others have to think that way too.

This guy said it as well as anyone!!

How can one support the troops by removing their funding or by telling his enemy when he'll leave?

"""Those who don't support the war in it's current form either don't know who the enemy is or refuse to believe the truth about the enemy. For if they did, they'd respect our efforts and support the war."""
You can't play politics! When you speak out against the "Police Action", you give aid to the Rag Heads. When you do that, you get troops killed!!! You did it to us and you are doing it again! USMC 60-68

How can one support the troops by removing their funding or by telling his enemy when he'll leave?

Those who don't support the war in it's current form either don't know who the enemy is or refuse to believe the truth about the enemy. For if they did, they'd respect our efforts and support the war.

Learn the truth and don't believe the soundbytes in the media and from the politicians playing you for a vote.

Annie, if I kill (or apprehend) someone because they are trying to kill or rape you for no reason more than they considered you weaker, would you support my effort? Would you want me to kill (or apprehend) another that was trying to rape or kill someone else simply because they were weaker? Would you help me to buy the weapons and equipment to help my effort? Would you say you supported me but try to take away those weapons and the equipment? Would that be support?

Regardless of why we went to Iraq initially, we are now fighting Al-Qaeda there. AQ wants to kill you for one reason: you are not muslim. They do not believe in negotiations. They do not believe in your right to practice christianity, hindu, or judaism, not even your right to be a 'moderate' muslim. They believe that if they kill your infidel husband, they have a right to you and your house.

Should we not support the government in Iraq in setting up a country that respects the rights of all individuals, including women? One that does not support terrorism. Will you support me and the men of the US military by providing us the men, equipment and financing to prevent AQ to set up another terrorist haven?

Some people don't understand there is a difference between the two. Even some that are serving don't support the war (meaning the "reason" behind it) either....

Excuse me? What are the Troops doing?

Just because you tag onto the end of some insane statement- "I support the Troops"- doesn't make what you said OK or indeed support the troops.

How shamefull that you would place such a statement in here. Next time ask a question!

Because the far-left wing of the Democrat Party is rabidly anti-military and, since they're the ones making most of the noise and getting most of the press, they're considered representative of Americans who are against the war. And you know what? It makes 'em VERY, VERY HAPPY!

Different interpretations of what "support" means.

Because it's their way of trying to justify their own position on the 'war'. War-mongers love 'war', yet know it the depth and blackness of their hearts that 'war' is wrong and immoral - for any reason. So it makes much more sense to criticize those who don't support the 'war' as non-patriotic people who don't support the troops.
It's the same brainwashed, weak mentality that causes "macho men" to call others "gay". It's an attempt to throw off any suspicion that they might "like" boys. -RKO- 06/16/07
