A lot longer than it will be to get a female, black, hispanic, or asian president.
Atheists are the most mistrusted group in the world, for no better reason than because we don't believe in fairy tales.

I believe it was around 50% of people could vote for an atheist is he was running for president and well qualified(no I'm not bsing the numbers) so today there is no chance for him to get elected. If Christians are too afraid to elect a Mormon, who still believes in Christ, as president, then it looks like it will be awhile before an atheist becomes president. Each generation seems to be more open minded though, so maybe in 50 years we could elect one, hopefully not 100.

I have met several world leaders, and lots of religious leaders, including John Paul II when he was still a cardinal.
I must say that I've never met a politician or senior minister of any faith that actually believed in it. They use it, expertly, to control the masses and make money, but their manner in close quarters clearly signals not only a lack of faith but an almost psychopathic lack of conscience and goodwill as well.
I don't know if it is part of what drives certain people to seek positions of wide influence, but it's just my observation.

Very doubtfully I think we’d see someone of a different religion(Jewish, Buddhist etc) or even a homosexual Christian or other religion in the white house before we see openly atheist president, unless of course they lie about their religion and then announce they are atheist once they are elected to office.

We are the least trusted minority in America, the only ones that its still okay to kick on. I say at least 100 years. Barring a new age of reason.

Well truthfully more than half of the presidents have been atheist(it comes with education). They are just playing lip service to the religion that the people who vote for them are apart of.(In this country Xians)

You mean an openly atheist president, because I have my doubts that many of them really believe in God. They sure don't act like it.
