I love this recipe!
1 Large Round French bread or Sour dough bread, top cut off and inside scooped out. Be sure not to make any holes and leave enough so the dip doesn't make it soggy. Break the piece into sizes big enough to dip.
2 Large pkgs cream cheese
10 oz and 6 oz clams whole chopped and minced, their much better when you chop em yourself.
1/2 onion chopped fine
Now you can either brown the bread bowl in the oven at 325 for 20 minutes or until crisp, allow to cool and pour in the chilled dip or pour in the dip and wrap in tin foil, heat for 1 1/2 -2 hours in the oven to serve the whole thing warm. Both are awesome!! I'm going to have to make this myself now, thanks for the reminder! Enjoy :-)
4-5 Tbsp fresh parsley chopped
salt and pepper to taste1/2 can chopped water chestnuts or your favorite nuts (optional)
1/3 cup clam juice

Garlicky Clam Dip:
8 servings
8 ounces softened cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cloves garlic (to taste)
1 dash fresh ground pepper (to taste)
7 ounces canned clams, drained and minced
1/4 cup clam broth
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1. Place softened cream cheese in a bowl, then using garlic press, squeeze the garlic clove with juice into bowl.
2. Cream together the cheese and garlic with a spoon until smooth.
3. Add the remaining ingredients, stirring until smooth.
4. Transfer to serving container, cover, and chill for 1 hour before serving.
5. Serve with crackers, chips, or veggies.
6. If you'd like a thinner dip (if you're serving dip with thinner chips, for instance), you can add more clam broth. Also good topped with chopped green onions.

I personally enjoy a hot clam dip
INGREDIENTS
1 (20 ounce) loaf round French bread
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons grated onion
2 tablespoons beer
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams, drained
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
Cut off top of bread and set aside. Hollow loaf, leaving 1 1/2 to 2 inch shell. Reserve the bread that you pull out of the loaf.
In a medium-size bowl, combine cream cheese, onion, beer, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, hot pepper sauce, and salt. Beat well. Fold clams into the mixture. Pour clam mixture into the hollowed out bread bowl, cover the bread bowl with the bread top. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil.
Bake at 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) for 3 hours. Use the leftover bread torn from inside the loaf to make bread cubes to dip with. Toast bread cubes with dip during last 5 minutes of baking time.
