if so will they prey for forgiveness tonight and every night and then does that make it ok to judge others again?

Yeah, you got us. The thumbs up or down is an insidious Christian plot to secretly condemn people to Hell. Damn, I told them if we made the thumb icon visible to heathens, sooner or later they would figure it out. Jeez, you must be some kind of genius or something.

The thumbs up and down is supposed to be whether or not you agree with some one.

i.e.

1. I see a question, I go to it, someone has already given the answer I would give, I give it a thumbs up, without writing anything myself, ( I am not here for the points) this allows the asker to see how many people agree with that answer.

2. I see a question, I go to it, I see an answer that I totally disagree with, I give it a thumbs down, this also lets the asker know how many disagree with the answers others have given.

That is why they are there, that should not be so hard to understand. The are not there for looks.

Yes I use them and so do you. I also report the ones that use fealthy language.

I am a Christian and I have even reported some so called Christians for their racial or fealthy language.

However now I just us the block button when I see it and that way it is up to the asker of the question to report or not.

but the blocked person won't be able to use the language if I decide to ask a question.

Some do. I think most Christians thumb down the answer, not the person. It falls under "love the sinner, hate the sin". Some non-Christians thumb down all Christian answers. I don't think people are being judgmental unless they actually say something about the person. Personally, I only thumbs down if the answer is a bad answer even in the belief system which supposedly supports it.

They don't judge people, they judge the quality of the questions. Just like this one, I would give it a thumbs down for preconceived ideas. I mean, no matter what I say you are going to be on the offensive towards Christians. No problem here with that, but, that just puts you in the same boat most Christians are in. The lack of wisdom due to traditional thoughts. In other words. This is the way I was taught, why not just continue without really finding the truth.

I hope no one is mis-using the Scripture in Matt. 7:1, the famous "Judge not...."

Jesus calls on us to make "righteous judgements" (John 7:24). How do we decided what's righteous? God's word tells us.

I believe that practically all of us are guilty of the "unrighteous" judgement found in Matt. 7. Yes, we should pray for forgiveness because of that. But we should not be ashamed of judging against sin and for defending God (although, honestly, giving a thumbs up and thumbs down on YA is a pretty poor method for doing so).

When this Christian gives a thumbs up or down, I'm judging the content of the answer and not the person who wrote the answer.

Having an opinion on an answer which someone gives and putting a thumbs down for it and judging someone by giving a thumbs down are two completely different things.

Not this Christian....no way...

I don't even use the feature very often....only in the more extreme cases....My concern is not to win the argument, but rather to "convince a soul" that in my opinion,is lost....(I also do not use the block or report options either...I am a big boy now.

...and as is probably evident...to have a bit of fun as well.

Judging people is up to God, alone...Speaking out against sin and defending the Word of God is a command to all Christians.

EDIT I actually find that many in the Atheist camp(especially),are very intertaining and humuous at times

EVERYONE, regardless of religion judges people. We all make our assumptions and have our opinions. I don't like to judge as in I won't hold something against someone, but yes, I give my thumbs up or down on how I feel (I'm Catholic by the way). But to sit here and say I don't judge and then star or not star your question (I did!), make that person a hypocrite.

They judge what we are saying. I have different views from most Christians and am always surprised at how many thumbs-0downs I get. But it doesn't bother me particularly.
If you don't agree with them or their interpretation, then you get a thumbs down. Doesn't matter, though, does it?
