Weight loss is based on your energy expenditure being greater than your energy input. Water contains no calories, however it is a valuable component of pretty much every chemical reaction in your system, so it's integral for keeping your metabolic rate in check. It still has weight, however, so if you don't have enough water in you, at first when you start drinking eight glasses of water a day you will put on a bit, but afterwards as your body chemistry starts operating at a normal pace and your metabolic rate improves, you will start progressively losing weight.

be aware though excessive amounts of water can cause water toxicity and can be dangerous by altering your body electrolyte balance

Drinking water daily does indeed flush the impurities out of your body daily, which also helps with weight loss. Drinking water does make one feel fuller, especially in between meals. I am on the Atkin's Diet & water on this diet is crucial to losing weight & being heathy. The safe amount to drink daily is to take your weight, divide that in two, & that's the amount of water in ounces, you can drink safely without any problems. The more weight one loses, the less water you have to drink. Water also keeps your hair, skin, & nails healthy. :)

It does help you loose weight, but you do have to use common sense, you can hurt yourself if you drink too much in a 24 hour period. It is helpful to maintain proper portion control if you drink water before you eat when you are hungry.

A glass of ice cold water has -8 calories in it, because the body has to heat it up before getting rid of it. I think the biggest benefit of water is to satisfy the stomach briefly, so you don't need to eat as much. I try and drink a lot of ice water when I'm dieting.

Yep it helps you flush out all the toxins and fat that's released when you work out... also it's better to grab a glass of water instead of a soda so just in that it saves you from the calories and such. Also drinking 24 oz of milk at least a day also helps... just healthy livin :D
