Masturbation, by its very nature, is a selfish act. Since you are having sex with yourself, there is no need to please anyone else. The emotional nature tends to follow the same course. As sex becomes little more than another way to meet your own physical needs, the tendency is to ignore the emotional needs of your spouse as well. She becomes nothing more than an object for your sexual satisfaction. In my own marriage, this led to a point where I didn't need my wife physically or emotionally, so I started to completely shut down from her. This led to separation and divorce after 13 years of marriage.

Many people are quick to point out that masturbation is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, so there must not be anything wrong with it. Some would point to the story of Onan in Genesis 38:8-10 as an example of masturbation being condemned in the Bible. However, in the context, it can be argued that Onan's wickedness stems from his refusal to provide his deceased brother with an heir. It took Jesus' radical statement in Matthew 5:28 to show the sinful nature of masturbation: "But I tell you that anyone that looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery in his heart." Since masturbation is nearly always accompanied by lustful thoughts, by Jesus' words it is the same as adultery, which is most definitely a sin.

Since you brought up, the subject, and if you are single, I ask you this:

What is involved in the mind when you masturbate? You can not but help commit adultery or fornication in your heart when you do this act. And do not try to make an excuse or tell me what I am saying I do not know what I am taking about. I use to do this

WHEN

I was a sinner.

The Sin of Odin in the OT mentions masturbation. Of course, it does so in a euphanistic sort of way. So it could be argued that it does not specifically say masturbation is wrong.

Hope this helps!

I found this article on masterbation and the Bible. Its a very clear and concise writing, with references and comments. Basically the Bible never really mentions masterbation specifically. "Spilling seed upon the ground' sort of implies this, but there's no mention of women and if they are allowed to masterbate.
I can't remember if women were circumcized back then as they are in some countries today. Needless to say, such a barbaric practice kills the sex drive for them.

There are no passages in the bible that specifically says masturbation is wrong. The closest passages that may be intrepreted that way are about Onan, who withdrew from his brother's wife, contrary to god's wishes, and was struck dead for this.

Some interpret that as god's displeasure of spilling one's seed on the floor (so the speak). Others interpret that as god's displeasure of not being obeyed (as the command was for Onan to go into his dead brother's wife so that she may conceive of him).

Not only masturbation is a sin, but also to wet yourself through your dreams is also a sin. No body will accept the fact regarding this, but had you gone to sleep with a clear conscious and made your prayer to our Loving God showing thankful attitude and a loving heart to him, He would have protected your mind and provided you with a wonderful sleep showing you dreams that would lift your mind to heavenly surroundings with no involvement of lust and fleshly desires. The only reason you would wet yourself in a dream is because of your fleshly desires that find its way out during your sleep. I know that no body will accept this truth, but if you want to justify that from the scripture, just refer to what Christ said about adultery in your heart. If you commit adultery in your heart during your waking hours, then the same may be said about committing adultery also during your subconscious mind. Your lusting after a woman in your heart is lust whether you are awake or you are sound asleep.

This prohibition is derived from the Biblical narrative of Onan (Talmud Niddah 13a). The Talmud (ibid) likens the act to murder and idolatry. The wrath displayed by God toward Onan was invoked not through the act of spilling semen, but through disobedience to God's command for Onan to impregnate his brother's widow. Others consider the death sentence excessive for failure to properly follow the laws of Levirate marriage - the Biblical punishment for refusing a Levirate marriage was to be spit on, in public, by the woman who was refused. (It may be noted that Onan did not actually refuse the marriage, he refused to impregnate his new wife) Because Onan's punishment was so much more severe, they argue that the spilling of semen was the relevant offense.
