My boyfriend and I have talked about marriage, and I will be converting for the sake of our children when we have them. I have been saved, but will have to be baptised in the Catholic church, along with being confirmed and having my first Communion. Is it possible to do these the same day as the wedding? Thanks!

Possible? yes. Probable? no. The process you'd be going through is the RCIA process. It includes several rites before the initiation sacraments, and most churches do it on a timeline that revolves around Easter Vigil.

I suggest go you your boyfriend's church and talk to the RCIA director and/or the pastor. Explain the situation and find out what options are available to you.

I bet it would with an o.k. from the Bishop. The Parish priest can check for you. They may also say that the Sacrament of baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion deserve a celebration totally seperate from the Holy Matrimony one too. I myself think it would be awesome to have them all at the same time. Welcome!!

Don't listen to the other guys that say they are all seperate. During the Easter vigil the majority of people come into the Church and the baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion is done all at the same time and I know that there are circumstances where people are let into full Communion with the Church at other times when it is important it is just up to the priest and how he approaches it.

I really don't think so. I would be baptized prior to my wedding therefore I could receive communion with my new husband on that very special day. Unless you are being married by a Bishop there is no way to be confirmed on that day and I'm not sure they would do it even then. You can do this later. Don't try to do so many important things all on the same day. Your wedding is a very special day when two lives are united and should be the focal point of that day. Good luck and many Happy and Blessed years together.

My question is, Why? If you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Why would you throw it away? Catholicism isn't Christianity! It is pagan and false. As a Christian you should know this! Jesus is the Lord! Not the so-called virgin Mary, The Pope isn't God, and praying for the dead? They are already going to either Heaven or Hell! and thee is no place called purgatory. Prayers for them are pointless. And why would you give up Jesus, To pray to Dead Saints, and A false Virgin? Catholicism preachers and teaches two different ways. Sorry! But Jesus is the Way. Not the Virgin Mary. If people would wake up! and Just SEE!
I pray that Jesus enlightens you before you do this foolish thing! Because once you've converted, you will not be the same, you will be empty, and you will be a blind follower of a false relationship with God. And FYI Priests can not intercede for you! That's why Jesus did what he did, dying on the Cross for your sins and the sins of the world past, present, and future, the Pope, the Bishops and the Priests, they could never, ever do what Christ did, He was truly and is Truly pure and free from sin. And besides, He is the Son of God and totally infallible. The Pope is not! Please before you foolishly throw away what you have with Jesus, Go to him in Prayer and then listen to the Lord, If he tells you to do so then do, If he doesn't tell you it's OK, then don't convert, Listen to Jesus, not your boyfriend, or anyone but Jesus! I'm shocked that your Parents haven't spoken up! And told you this is Wrong!

As long as you have completed the classes to convert as well as the classes you need to get married in the church

Sure, why not?

You'll probably want to attend the general confirmation ceremony when the bishop passes through, but I think your plan of one-stop religious fervor is great!

Just think about all those white dresses and veils my mom could have saved money on . . .

Not baptism andconfirmation, most likely, but talk to your pastor. The service would be rather long with 4 sacraments.I don't know any other reason why not unless the parish has evryone"done" at Easter Vigil.

I would think that would be a question for your priest.

However, there's a ceremony involved with each....would you really want to do all of that on your wedding day? Seems to me it would be taking away from the wedding ceremony? If you don't feel that way though, more power to you, and congratulations on your upcoming marriage! =)

I was brought up as a Catholic.

Well... each of those sacraments is performed in a different ceremony...

Having the 3 on the same day and one after the other doesn't sound reasonable to me...

Saved by a Catholic Church, you must be rich and a well dressed woman. I have never seen this church save a poor one. For the sake of your children you should take them to a church where they don't have our Lord Jesus Christ still hanging on the cross.
