It's not "people" who think atheists are anti-Christian. It's Christians. Their ages-old persecution complex forces them to believe everyone is out to get them, specifically.

That is because most people see Christianity as the only Major religion and most Christians, at least in my opinion... Think that their religion is the only one out there. And they are anti all religions. Not just against Christians. If they are anti-Christian specifically I think that is because a lot of people try to press the religion on him/her. Then again why should we really care about a person's religion. Now before y'all end up asking I am a Christian. But, what a person believes in is their choice, not ours. So, why do we really have to judge, that is like judging a person for their sexuality.

I am an atheist, and I see atheists asking absurd questions about christianity that parallels some likewise absurd questions that christians generally ask all unbelievers.
I think a lot of christians on this forum use the question/answer format illegally to provide themselves a venue for witnessing and preaching.
I think some atheists use these christian "questions" as prototype formats to ask followup questions to expose via argumentum ad absurdum the christian "questions" for what they really are.
I do not think atheists are specifically anti-christian. I think there are a predominant amount of these fallacious questions being asked by christians, that atheists then ridicule.

Some atheists are anti- Christian and always attack Christianity even when the topic is some practice or scandal in another religion. I think this is often a personal thing or even a family-of-origin issue.
Also, it is safer and more"politically correct" to attack Christianity(especially practices or events in the past) than Islam,Judaism or other religions and religionists. In many circles, the attacking, misrepresenting and negative generalizing( or at least scorning) of Christianity will be applauded and encouraged but that of non -Western or "minority" religions will not be.
Most atheists I know are not antitheist (hostile to theists, theism and the person, presence and influence of God and usually obsessively commited to the irradication of theistic religion) and are not driven to attack Christianity,Christians or the presence of any religion" that minds its business."

I am not an atheist, I am not a Christian (that would be a real sin), and I am not anti_Christian...i just have little respect for the clan, as a whole. As long as they are not shoving their nonsense down my throat, I am fine with anyone. At this very moment, I am having an internal battle with myself as to continuing a friendship that spans many years....one of my best friends, but he has gone off the deep end of fundamentalism, and I cannot accept this line of thinking as sane. In writing this response, I have come to the realization that I cannot continue the friendship in any form, whether or not "Christianity" is brought up or not. Thanks for clearing my head. Good luck and peace.

I'm not an atheist, and I no longer identify myself as a Christian, but I will say this--
Christianity requires its believers to take any refutation of their beliefs as confrontation and immediately sets up a convert-or-kill conflict. Since atheistic proofs are total repudiation of Christianity, it is difficult for Christians to believe that atheists point these things out without malice.
Because in the view of Christianity, if they're right, you convert or die, so they feel that if you're right, they will be forced to convert or die.
This is the source of the saying 'live and let live' and Christians need to add it to their skillset.
Just my opinion.

I didn't know people did. Until finding Religion & Spirituality on answers.yahoo, I had never talked to, or even knew an atheists. There is a difference between atheisist and the lost or unsaved. Those people don't really believe, or haven't given it much thought, so when presented with the Gospel message, most times you can reach them. But atheists seem to have their minds made up, to be against those who trust in Jesus. But anyway, I never gave your question any thought before. Never had any reason to.

I have asked that question many times myself, I think the christian faith, but also some other faiths(who really think the same ) are so brainwashed that they have become defensive and over confident... egotistical kinda, and more problems begin when you point out that science has proven many stories in the bible untrue, and incomplete. Try to tell a christian that and they'll pester you for the rest of your life thinking they have to "save you". Pffftt! They expect you to open your mind and heart to the word of god, but they won't do the same and open their minds to a possibility that the bible is nothing but a grand novel with stories meant to entertain, and maybe with lessons that we can use for humanity, not for spiritual enlightenment.

It depends where you live. If you're an atheist in a predominantly Christian country then you'll most likely have a problem with Christians. I live in the UK so my main beef is with Muslims here and the US Christians I come into contact with online, not so much the domestic variety who don't seem to be as loudmouthed or annoying.

many have been turned off by so-called christianity. if they had cared to examine, most do not, they would see that it isn't the bible that's wrong, it's the church. false prophets are everywhere and when the church begins to follow it's own ideas and strays from the bible, people will notice. jesus said not everyone calling his name will be saved. just because they call themselves christian, doesn't mean they are.
