Worshipper gets psychic candy from Religion.
Religion gets money, power, service, loyalty, and even sacrifice of life from Worshippers.
I think the deal is a little lopsided . . . .

2. Societal bonding of certain segments of society,
3. Understanding of purpose (both individual, group and/or species),
4. Comfort
5. Connection/communication with a higher power (for whatever reason),
