My BMI is 17, and I'm told that that is not good, but I am not unhealthy.

17 would mean taht you are underweight. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are unhealthy. and it's not like 17 is that far underweight. I wouldn't worry about it at all. If you're really concerned try building some muscle mass and that should get you right up there.

The norms for BMI are age dependent, so it would be helpful to know how old you are. Your height and weight would be good to know, too.

A BMI of 17 is about the 85th percentile for a five year old, but it is below the 5th percentile for a 17 year old girl.

And, if you are obsessing about numbers, you might have a distorted body image and a serious eating disorder.

funny enough. i have the same BMI as you. i would say just try excerising and building up muscles. i just don't know what else to say. if you just eat normally and act the way you are, i say you're fine. some BMI charts are different than others, don't listen to them. you're perfectly normal

17 means that you are slightly underweight, if at all.
