My hamster has ringworm and I am currently unable to find a job and my mother is in denial and won't spend money on anything for him other than food and bedding. Are there any cures that I could make or cheap brands that work? I feel horrible and he keeps itching. :'( Please help?

To the first person who answered:

Look. I am seriously not in the mood to take your crap. You talk and say how I don't care about my hamster, I LOVE THE LITTLE FLUFFBALL! If you aren't going to be helpful then just don't say anything. What do you expect me to do? You want me to steal? I feel horrible enough without you telling me that I don't care about my hamsters health. You don't know me and you certainly didn't read the question throughly. It's not as though I'm CHOOSING not to treat him. If I was then why would I bother asking for help?!

Have a nice day.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I am not sure if you know it or not but ringworm is contagious...yes, to people. If you can not take the hamster to the vet, visit with a hamster breeder near you that has experience. They may be able to help you for little or nothing. If you have a Pet Store near you, they may (probably not) be able to help you...mom and pop type store will be more likey to help then a large chain store. In the mean time try not to handle the hamster and when you do wash very well with soap and warm water. Good Luck to you and be careful you too do not end up the dreaded ringworm.

Fast Ringworm Cure?

You can't know it is ringworm without doing a culture. Did the vet diagnose it? Hamsters can have othe skin problems, such as mites. Find a way to get vet treatment--borrow money from a friend or relative and make arrangements to pay them back when you can.

use apple cider vinegar,,, it has natural antifungal properties that can treat your ringworm infection..
apply undiluted apple vinegar to the infected patch area with a swab or cotton ball several times a day until the patches are gone

hi, call a vet, describe the problem, they should give you advice on phone, get a handbook on hammies, or go to hammie websites and read about health issues, there are lots of hamster websites on computers, good luck vets are not cheap, I took mine to one I know. it had wet tail and died there,

Ringworms will KILL YOU HAMSTAR IN A MONTH!!! you have to get it put down if you are too cheap to try to save the poor thing. if you had a ringworm, woudn't u spend money to save yourself!?!?!? What about the poor little hamster!?!?!? you are really cruel. get it put down so it wont have to suffer under your inhumane care anymore.
