Christians read and accept it but it isn't mean't to REPRESENT Christians. Christ's teachings and way of life are what Christians are spposed to live up to. The New testament is what we are supposed to use as our guide.

The Old Testament is was represents Jews. The NT is what represents Christians and the Quran represents what Islam stands for.

Christians just accept the OT but dont' live their life accordingly. We focus on Christs teachings.

Do you use the Old Testament to bash Muslims?

Since the OT was written BC it cannot "represent Christians" since there weren't any!
Some of its teachings were followed up by Christ in the NT, but also some were contradicted or re-interpreted by him - notably the "eye for an eye" revenge nonsense followed by both OT and Quran apparently and responsible for so much of the current Middle East mess!

The OT is the Hisory of Christianity. A record of Gods Love and Promises. How He worked through regular people to accomplish His plan. Christians are only completed Jews. Christ came to free us from the laws that God set out in the OT. Not because the laws were wrong but because they were never meant to be the answer. God new that we could not possibly keep them no matter how hard we tried. That was the point. They were only meant to teach The freeded slaves how God expected them to live and some were because they were people who had never been free for generations and needed guides to live by. The 10 commandments are more than just what they say in word, there is a spirit of intention to be followed as well. The NT only completes the OT. Not just in word but in spirit.

Ah if you have studied the Bible completely (I assume you are not a Christian so you probably have not studied the Bible) you would see the link. I do not to intened be rude, sorry forgive me if I am wrong. I believe through my studies that the Old Testament is cruicially important because it sets the stage for the coming of Jesus Christ, the life He would live and the sacrifice He made to redeem all mankind. If you had a good cross reference study guide you can see that there are hundreds (maybe even 1000) quotes and references to the Old Testament writings. For example when Jesus said to "Love your neighbor as yourself" that is from the Law of Moses in Leviticus 19:18. Paul quoted the Old Testamant many, many times.

Christ was a Jew. Christ followed the Jewish law and frequently quoted from the OT. Christ used OT texts against the Pharisees and Saducees. So if you call yourself a Christian, and Christianity supposedly revolves around Christ, you pretty much have to accept the OT, because Christ himself accepted it, lived it, followed it, and supposedly perfected it. That is, if you want to buy into all that is said about Christ.

But never forget: Jesus Christ was not a Christian. He did not preach a religion - he preached principles. Christianity as an organized religion is just as corrupt as the Judaism that Jesus fought against in his day, and Jesus would be none too pleased to see his name used in such a way. He didn't tell us to start a new religion. He told us to treat each other with love, respect, and kindness.

It does not represent Christians because they had a different covenant at that time. It is the Scripture of Jesus' time. He confirmed.

Now we are under the new covenant. The covenant is not just to Christians, it is for everybody. We receive it upon acceptance of it.

No, we do not use OT to bash Muslims. Muslims are following the false prophet and that is their choice. We follow Jesus Christ. His offer is the same for Muslims too. Jesus is the way.

the NT is overrated I prefer reading the OT anyday over the NT. The NT and the Ouran is just a rehash of plot devices that were already used in the OT. The writers of the NT killed the main character of their story in a anti-climatic like fashion because they ran out of ideas!

If you don't understand the O.T then you can't go very deep in full understanding of the N.T.

Read Revelation for example: it is full of types and symbology taken right out of O.T. prophecy. Now the O.T. parts that still do apply are those that are reinforced in the N.T. Such as homosexuality. It is spoken against in Leviticus and reinforced in Romans. Okay?

The turning component is Acts 15:19 "this is my judgement, consequently, that we'd desire to constantly no longer make it difficult for the Gentiles who're turning to God". honestly human beings have been turning to God to no longer a faith. For Gentile men, a minimum of, there's a painful criminal surgical practice to follow as a manner to develop into Jewish and follow all the previous testomony regulations. From that component Christianity as a faith develop into decrease off from Judaism. definite we'd desire to constantly follow all the moral concepts of the ten commandments: do no longer kill, do no longer lie, do no longer thieve etc. extremely G-d gave the ten Commandments to the Jews. Did G-d deliver you out of Egypt, the land of slavery? probable no longer. consequently the ten commandments do no longer strictly talking follow to you. via the comparable token, taken allegorically, if God has freed you out of your very own own 'land of slavery' it may be clever to place the ten commandments into practice as much as doable. In finished contract that this may be a no longer elementary subject.

If we believe Ephesians 2:8,9 then the entire o.t. is in error. Salvation cannot be a gift and be earned by works of any kind including dying on a cross. Wise up, a gift can only be accepted or rejected.
