I have heard there is one sin that cannot be forgiven. How does one go about commiting this sin? Would I have to say it out loud? Would calling the Holy Spirit bad names be sufficient? How would I know if I were successfull, besides waiting to die and seeing if I am in Hell?

The unforgivable sin is rejection of the major work of the Holy Spirit which is working of faith and trust in Christ in the minds and hearts of people. It is not unforgivable because God is a nitpicking grump with a penchant for revenge. It is unforgivable because it does not want the forgiveness He offers. Honestly, how simple is this? Pretend you're terminally ill. A doctor offers you a cure. You reject the cure. You die. Can you really blame the doctor? This is a direct analogy to the Christian claim of forgiveness through Christ. And yet I hear over and over again how God is a monster for sending people to hell. Don't you get it? He doesn't send them. They choose to go. Hell is simply existence apart from God. That is their choice. How about you?

Blasphemy is lacking proper respect or seriousness, in this case regarding the Spirit, which according to Matthew 12:31 will not be forgiven. Christians received the Holy Spirit when they accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. This is the Spirit of God within them, which guides and teaches each person, empowering them to live according to God's will.

Not all Christians live according to the Spirit, either because they are still influenced by their carnal natures or the lack of knowledge about Him. It is a matter of growth and awareness. If a person knows the Spirit of God is within them, and choose to ignore Him, and/or tells others to do the same, they have decided to become disobedient. They have fallen away. We always have free will and choice.

I have heard that the only way to truly blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to have actually encountered His presence (probably not in the most literal sense) and experienced His glory and love and then to go on and say that you do not believe in Him.

It sounds as if you are already there. The unforvigable sin is so because the person does not believe, therefore, they will never repent and ask forgiveness because they have no reason to. So relax, you may have your wish. But watch out, someone may be praying fervantly for you, and God hears the prayers of the righteous!

According to what I believe, the only unforgivable sin is not accepting Christ as your savior. ALL OTHER SINS can be forgiven, even blasphemy. You can choose to believe how you wish, but I hope you give my way some consideration. Thanks for asking, and have a wonderful day.

Just a thought, most christians tell you heaven is free that it is yours for the taking right, so how could there be an unforgivable sin.

You can't blaspheme the Holy Spirit unless you are one of his elect. Which is not allowing the Holy Spirit to speak for you when brought up to the synagogue of satan

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what this is supposed to mean. All I can come up with is that to commit this sin, you have to completely turn your back upon "good" in any form. A crude idea that needs a lot of work, but it's a start.

For example if a persons says or believes this..." I am an athiest, I do not believe in God, I do not believe in Jesus Christ, I will never repent and be saved, I do not need Jesus Christ in my life"....if they continual to believe this THAT is the unforgivable sin.

Yes, God is notoriously thin-skinned and His feelings get hurt easier than a 9-year old. Amazing, considering He's a God, huh?
