Ok whenever some poor shlop asks 'why are atheists in the R&S section?' some other poor shlops will come along and say it's because they need God or seek the truth even if they won't admit it and other idiotic phrases like that. And correct me if I'm wrong...but most of the time when they use the term God, they mean in terms of some form of Christianity.

Why do the atheists (whom I assure you, aren't searching for that kind of 'truth'), have to be searching for the Christian God? Why not say, they need Allah or Buddha or Odin or Zeus or FSM (hey, gotta get a good list going....).

As an atheist, I do not believe in any god. I would argue my same positions against any god or supernatural being. I think that most atheists would agree. I can only assume that the "Christian god" just comes more often on this forum because most theists are Christians. One must remember though; Judaism, Islam, and Christianity all worship the same God. Therefore, there isn't really just a "Christian god".

No, I do not agree. Christianity is not even a religion. You can claim it all to yourself if you like. Christianity is about the personal relationship with God. With God be have a good reason to believe is the only God. We believe that the Bible is true and it says Jesus is the way and the truth.

I like atheists here. I think it is great they are here. They have never said to me " Go to hell " nor I have ever said that to them. They know I believe that the Bible is true so I do not think there are any hard feelings. Muslims however keep telling me that I go to hell. I know I do not. We learn from each other.

The Christian God doesn't really have a name in English, it's just God.
So when people capitalize the word god, they're generally referring to the Christian God.
Some people just don't know when to say others are looking for a god because they've seen the word god capitalized so many times they only take it as a proper noun.

It doesn't. Christianity's version of an all Powerful Being falls somewhat short of ideal. The biblical God, is the brain child of a group of tribal beings that existed 2000 plus years ago. They lived in a violent world - so their version of God is a reflection of that world. In my opinion, God does not include anger, jealousy, revenge or favouritism. It does include, non-interference with our free-will, no strings attached, and can be touched or contacted by going within oneself.

There is a great difference between religion expressed as one's beliefs and religious dogma.

I wondered that same thing, christians believe that they have a monopoly on god and athesist attack the christian concept of god! It's all very confusing I wished that they would both grow up and learned to get along with one another!

I always get irritated when people assume that atheist = anti-christian. Its probably an assumtion made by my fellow americans who, unfortunately, are not pluralistic or exposed to much diversity. In many cases.
