“ Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘ I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. (Isaiah 44:8)

Aslo see Isaiah 45:5; 45:14; 45:21; 45:22; 46:5; 46:9; 43:10 all of these verses say there is only one God

Yet part of the mormon doctrine of God is the belief that every male mormon can become a god himself? joseph smith said, " You have got to learn to become gods yourselves the same as all gods before you." Brigham Young said, " The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming gods like himself. We are created to become gods like unto out father in heaven.

Ok, First, if you were LDS then you missed some major teachings and should already understand this. You should also know that the Journal of Discourses, while interesting to read, is not an accurate source of information. It is not canonized or even taught out of and is rarely quoted because it is recognized to have inaccuracies. It isn't like they had voice recorders back then and most of its contents were someone elses memory of a discourse and may have been recorded some time after the event. How well do you remember the last lecture you attended? In fact, I was recently reading a book where it talked about Joseph Smith having to explain some concept he had presented as it had been misunderstood, changed, and then spread around. As to your actual question, speculate away because we do not know. It is not in the scriptures beyond the most basic information. These are KJV bible scriptures. BIBLE! Because the LDS do not practice or teach anything that is contrary to the bible (more perhaps but not clashing). There is more then one god but we worship only one God. (Genesis 1:1, Exodus 20:3 Psalms 86:8) We know that we are made in God's image (Genesis 1:27) We are not God's creations but his children and heirs to all he has and is (Ps. 82:6, John 10:34, Romans 8:17) Beyond these basics there is no solid foundation for speculation. Perhaps the word god as used in the above BIBLICAL scriptures is misunderstood. It is a certainty that God the Father is our only God and Jesus Christ is our Savior. Speculations do us little good but fill time. And in my opinion it is a waste of time. We are better off reading and studying our scriptures and with prayer gaining a deeper understanding of God and Christ and what our part is and then living it. There is so much we can know of a surety from the scriptures and the teachings of the living Prophets there is little reason to speculate.

Perhaps god is a loner of sorts, and not used to the company of peers, inasmuch as he seems to delight in being worshipped by us 'little people'. Perhaps the Other Gods don't like him because of the way he mistreats his children, can't take care of the devil issue, or do much about hurricanes and sunspots, and has made a mess of the universe in general.

You will not get a honest answer from the Mormons on this and you are obviously just getting bashed by the Atheists.

Perhaps Smith and Young felt, as much of the world does, that your bible is filled with self-perpetuating crap that has no validity in the real world. Personally, I think they too were filled with mountains of crap, but then I feel that about all religions. I make no distinction between yours and theirs in terms of validity. I consider both to be invalid. Using YOUR belief system to counter someone ELSES belief system is just a remarkable waste of time and energy, dude.
