Namaste ~

After all, no one wants to simply 'jump off the deep end' ...so ...

...what do you think is the way to find out if something is worth your time and
energy?

Does it not all hang on the *results*?

So if you notice people believing in a certain way, and you notice that they
are happy and making good progress, is it safe to try their way of working ....

...or are there other considerations to make? What would they be?

Thank you

Try and see!

It's good that you're looking for a way to be happy and make good progress. Just make sure that what your doing is fulfilling for you. Sometimes a technique that works well for one person does not work well for others.

An example would be Christianity for me. Millions of people are very happy with it, and it truly works for them, bringing them closer to God. That is a good thing.

But my mind is too analytical, and I'm too stubborn I guess to just take things at face value. So, when I get into questions it cannot answer, I begin to feel like it is not enough.

So I am still searching myself. The only way I've found is to kind of do it on my own, using my own inner guidance and picking up truth like a magnet anytime I find it.

Just make sure you try to understand how what you're doing brings about that change of greater happiness in your life. That will be the greater underlying truth behind the action.

Off course knowledge can guide you in making decisions, but only when that specific knowledge is in your bounds, and apparently it so happens, that you cannot test a religion before following it, because religion speak the knowledge of infinite.

so, a human will not be able to decide any entity, which is above the level of his intelligence, and hence understanding.

and the truth, is that, always you will follow one or the other religin, and you are bound to follow.

the very nature that you are human, binds you to believe in one or the other. depending the level of illusion.

so in simple words, Religion chooses you, and you do no choose religion, and this is depending on your current capability.

for example, note that even atheists have there belief taht god and religion does not exist and they have there own set of logical definitions, so this in itself is a religion of atheists isnt it.

but the growth can be positive or negative, depending on your usage and you being positive or negative. So try to be good, automatically you will be given better religion and you proceed in this way when you understand the purpose of religion is over.

Read, for openers. Take a course in philosophy of religion or anthropology of religion or even psychology of religion. Take courses in comparative religion, to the extent they are available.

Read not only materials written by believers, but by former believers or others who do not believe. Weigh the information in your own mind, and decide for yourself what you want to know more about. Then go to the yellow pages of the phone book and contact the local members of that group.

Be cautious, keep your BS filters on high gain, and remember that you are looking for a path that works FOR YOU, whether or not it works for someone else.

With respect to religion, many people believe what their families raised them as--so, they've gone to church all their lives practicing Catholicism, so they are Catholics as adults. Others, like myself, were left to make the decision by myself. My parents were both Catholics who were forced into Catholic schools, etc. and they didn't want me to do that--they felt the choice was mine. Essentially, I've never researched religions much, but I was baptized Methodist, so that is what I looked into and liked the idea behind it, so I claim it. But I don't think anything is ever sealed in stone. If you think someone's religion is interesting or more aligned with what you believe, go to their churches and sit in the masses and see what you think. I believe, in the end, as long as you are spiritual and (if you are a Christian) pray, it doesn't matter what religion you are because you still have the connection to God.

I think God EXPECTS you to test the waters! Speaking of Christianity, it is a religion of faith, but it is not blind faith.

God expects us to do the work to know Him and to trust Him. See 2 Tim. 3:16-17.

The Bereans were living examples of this. See Acts 17:10-11. They didn't jump right in when Paul preached to them; they checked him out first, and their source for the Truth was the Scriptures.

I tasted the Water and it doesn't work because GOD doesn't exist I've Learned anyone the Believes the Scriptures of something that's not Real, has Problems Unimaginable, So Don't Believe all the Hype the God Exists or that God's Great or Even in Jail that you found God the Fact is you won't find God, you live in a World of Eco-Bio-Science atmosphere.

With respect Just say I don't believe in God, and just Accept that I won't join you're Faith.

If you test the waters - denoting all religions - you will find it polluted in Toto and if you are intelligent you will withdraw. You are born into a religion and stick to that religion. In following the religion, you apply your own intelligence and judgment and live a life good to you and good to others too. Look! The grass is greener the other side. Even if you do not see that way, there are paid or brainwashed agents to entice you.

most times you are born into a religion. yes you can change the way you live life and that is your religion. ideally in this world if you want to make a change you need to adhere to certain faith, a certain conduct and priniciples, but the strength you would derive from a religion should allow you to face the challenges of life without compramising. That is how tough you need to grow and your religion should be guiding force for you in this process.

Judge your results harshly and make no snap judgments. The man who wins the lotto and has everything may still not be happy.
In the end it is up to you to decide so decide wisely. Remember always that God or the devil whichever is in the details so look closely at all the end results. The devil is clever but he does give away certain details in his schemings.
