I have only been to two weddings and those were when I was pretty young so I do not remember. I have been looking online at suggested reception timelines as in what order everything happens in and what flows the best. Our reception will probably start at 6 and we wont be needing the cocktail hour and fancy stuff like that as we are having the reception at my fiance's parents farm. I was wondering if you could tell me what the timeline was like at weddings you have been to and what you feel flows the best.

Our wedding will be at 3 or 4 and the reception at 5 or 6 and we are serving a casual buffet style dinner.

I have quite a few timelines from previous weddings I have done. If you send me an email at info@eleganzaintima.com I can send you the Word documents and you can fix them to work for you.

Ok, anything goes. I will tell you that our wedding was at 12:30 and our reception was at three and we did not have a cocktail hour either. we did a buffet dinner.

3:00-4:00 we waited for people to show up, it was a mingling time and the bar was open.

4:00 - the dj introduced the bridal party and then the bride and groom

we then had our first dance once everyone was seated and the bridal party was introduced

Our best man did a toast

we ate dinner, everyone went up to get there food, and then my husband and i did speeches along with the other people

And then we started partying.

when people came into the door we gave the wedding favours.....but they can be put on the table as well

Anything goes, you can make it yours by changing the way things run, its completely up to you

my mom is a caterer and owns her own dance hall that we have receptions in every weekend. This is how most of them go if it starts at six.

6:00- Arival

7 or 7:30- Eat

8 or 8:15- Speeches

8:45-Cake

9:00- Dance

And then the rest of the night you just kind of go with the flow. If you do the Bouquet toss and garder the DJ usually with tell you when to start or you can do it whenever you want.

and if it starts at five just push everything an hour back!!

Hope that i helped you! Good Luck!

Here's a note about the reception cake cutting. If your formal photos take a long time, then plan to cut the cake right before dinner is served or right after. People will start to leave after dinner and you don't want them to miss the cake cutting. If you're doing a bouquet or garter toss, that can wait for later in the evening.

Best wishes on your wedding!
