Well, the first question you should ask is would we want to? And even if we did, do we have the right to?

The problem is, you’re assuming that global warming is a bad thing. The climate of planet Earth has changed throughout its history. It has been colder and hotter than it is today in the past – and in the relatively recent past too.

If it has been hotter than it is now in the past, then the current temperature is within the natural temperature range of planet Earth. So who made the decision that it is “too hot” and on what basis?

Even the boss of NASA feels this way. He says…

“I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with. To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change. First of all, I don't think it's within the power of human beings to assure that the climate does not change, as millions of years of history have shown. And second of all, I guess I would ask which human beings — where and when — are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take.” (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10571499 )

I couldn’t agree more.

The climate of planet Earth is *always* changing. That 21st century man has decided that he’s going to suddenly stop the planet doing what it’s been doing for the last 4.5 billion years seem incredibly arrogant to me.

There is one way to stop global warming.

Get a big firetruck and put out the sun. Global warming, the next big lie (ie: the checks in the mail etc) is the current hot button issue. All of the planets are heating equally which should show you that man has no control over this issue. Can man make his environment a better place to live? Certainly, but why does man in his insignificance think he can control all things?

There are a great many things that can be done. If you look at Byderule's answer and my answer to the question below there's a lot of ideas there that individuals can do to help reduce global warming: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag_qsbCpQF4HEmtNntkykRTty6IX?qid=20070615114625AAEgxO0&show=7#profile-info-YkKIjqmXaa

There are also large scale schemes that are being considered to reduce or even reverse the warming trend, some of them are explained on this website: http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/combat.html#4

Yes. Block the sunlight.

Or, paint the entire state of Texas white so it will reflect sunlight.
