(warning - overgeneralizations follow)

I don't call myself an atheist and I'm definitively not a christian. The fact that I don't believe in any supreme being and intelligent creation does not need a label.
Having said that, some christian are so deep in their beleif that they can't see past their nose. That is why they can't and won't undestand why anybody won't share their belief. This is true of any fanatical religious person, not just christians. Lets not generalize here.

I try to tell my Christian bretheren that God doesn't want everybody. He gives to some people the desire to come to him, and most other people are not given that. You know, it's that verse, " Many are called, yet few are chosen." And "None come to me except the Father draws him." Jesus said BOTH of those things and they act like they don't exist.
So Atheists, as unscientific as it is, claim a lack of belief in God without any kind of scientific study-- a postition that requires only faith to believe in. Okay, so they have the right to, right? Right! But then those Atheists come here day after day without any discernment on their part as to how it appears that their state of mind is in. Are they so bored of science that they must hang around people that are not? Do they have no special interests that keep them discovering and seeking the secrets of the universe? No!
Instead they try to prove how intelligent they are by pestering people who are to them illogical. For what?

Well, an old man once told me when i was a little un-grateful brat, that a hard head never learns that its' skull is filled with a Dr. J and Mr. Lie. Now suppose your right hand was cut freshly off the rest of your beautiful body, would you feel a painful fire where the divison took place, or would you just simply cry out aloud, "Dr. J save my precious blood from dying because i have lied thirteen times?"

They understand. It's just part of their belief system to try to save us. That's the big difference...there's no incentive or reason for atheists to try to convert Christians, but on the Christian end there are huge reasons and incentives.
To each his own! Would I prefer people not trying to convert me? Yes. Do I begrudge them the right to their own belief system? No.

Christians preach, witness to others in hopes of converting others to the christian belief. They do so because they think they are commanded to do so by their god.
Christians who do this do not understand that unbelievers do not want to be converted. They do not accept that others have arrived at their understanding of the world that is different than their's. They do not RESPECT other's beliefs/unbeliefs if they differ from the christian belief.

They don't understand how you can be so sure that there isn't a God. Oh wait a minute aren't they making the same mistake just the other way around?

Who in their right mind would want to degrade their faith in God, by trying to convert a person that has little faith in themselves, let alone faith in God?
This would be a foolhardy venture!
This is a complete waste of a true human beings time and energy.

It's not that we don't understand, but a true Christian loves everyone, including atheists. It's just sad to us, that's all.

I am a Christian and I understand. I'm sorry if people are pushing you. It's a personal choice and I respect you whatever choice you make.
