ok, so eve screwed up and ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge. she disobeyed god and therefore deserved his punishment. she broke the rules, she deserves punishment. cause and effect, right? explain this though, why did god see fit to punish all women for eve's action by making child birth painful for all women? that hardly seems like a fair and just god if you ask me. the only way it would be fair is if he is consistent in this method of punishment for disobedience. so let's take a look at another rule of his. ah yes, we must accept jesus as our lord and personal savior. well, guess what? i don't. therefore i'm going to hell. and in order for god to be fair and just he must punish all men the same as he is punishing me, regardless if they accept jesus or not. therefore, since i'm going to hell for my disobedience, so is the rest of the male population, that is if he is fair and just.

i don't believe in hell... i'm merely pointing out the obvious contradiction to the description of god being fair and just.

you have a choice.... so it is fair.... now, if you DIDN'T have the choice... then it would be unfair... but free will prevails and you have the choice to accept or reject.... so there is only yourself to blame with the outcome.

God doesnt conform to us... we must conform to what He has planned for us... but the choice is all yours, darlin!

G-d absolutely exists in my mind and heart, he/she is in every facet of my life. He is my salvation (and much needed I might add). But where I don't find him is in the pages of a book written long ago by who knows who. I wasn't there...I'm here and this is where I find my G-d. It wasn't always so but it is now. And that is between G-d and I. Perhaps someday you will find him too...maybe you won't. Either way your beliefs will be of immense value to you in years to come. Perhaps just being happy with whatever you believe is what the almighty wants the most. I'd like to think so anyway. My point is...who cares what the bible says, especially since everybody has their own interpretation. If a couple of passages from the bible is going to be the determining factor of your spiritual understanding then as a G-d fearing man I suggest you read a Tom Robbins novel instead.

You don't understand that Adam and Eve represent us all. I'm not saying they weren't two real people but we all eat of the tree we are told not to every day and that's why we all share in the same punishment. Jesus came to pay for our sins so we can have the gift of eternal life in heaven with Him. He didn't come so that we would never have hardships here on earth and so that everything would always go our way here. I've learned my best lessons through my trials and they have shaped my character into someone I like. I think you're too focused on the punishment aspect and not enough on the way out that our loving God has provided for us from our sinful state.

Adam was head of the human race and it was by his disobedience that sin passed down through the whole of humanity and also why we are under the power and slavery of sin, we cannot lay the blame squarely on Adam though as if we have no resposibility to turn from sin, you cannot kill someone and then blame Adam and Eve for it.
The remedy for fallen humanity was the death and resurrection of Gods Son, He alone restored humankind to be able to once more more become united in God again, so it is up to each one to decide what it is they want, eternal life or eternal disobedience to God, eternal disobedience is in itself Hell.

Paragraphs, I say! Par • a• graphs.

And syntax!

That aside, why are you taking a literal reading of a Canaanite creation myth and trying to argue logically from THAT? Were you one of those kids who wanted to know how Santa could visit every kid on the planet in just one night?

Seriously, taken metaphorically that story's scary enough . . . I mean, really. Women as the source of ALL evil, suffering, and pain in the world? How whack is that?

He isn't fair and just. The God in Christianity is far from perfect like they depict him to be. Forget all the scientific things that are wrong with the bible, and even the fact that it's comprised of fairy tales. Is eternal suffering really a just punishment for ANYTHING? Most murderers have mental defects, gays are born homosexual, your religion is usually determined by where you're born, etc...

The unfortunate consequence of Adam and Eve's disobedience is that you and I also have a sin nature.

We all miss the mark and need a Savior............but he is just and love because he offers you and me a pardon through Jesus Christ. If not for Jesus, I'm sure God would have stopped allowing people to be born at all..............because all men would have been destined for hell.

God is good! (He just doesn't compromise the way we do!)

lol...i can imagine this question will piss a few christians off...but youre right...it wouldnt make sense for an omniscient, omnificent god, being, diety to punish entire generations of people because one of them ate a fruit that they werent supposed to..."No rational argument will have a rational effect on a man who does not want to adopt a rational attitude." - Karl Popper

just and fair is everyone receiving punishment for their sins. the payment is death, spiritual and physical. however, someone without sin paid for sin for everyone who accepts the free gift of his death. since Jesus took death upon himself, we don't have to spend eternity in hell because he took the punishment (justice) and he now offers everyone to live, through his eternal and abundant life.

what you call just and fair is a perfect God accepting imperfection. God is just and fair, and also merciful and loving. there is no contradiction.

Check out Gnosticism. They believe that the one walking in the cool of the morning in the garden was actually the evil demiurge (like the devil) in disguise. The snake was actually Lilith. She clued Adam and Eve in on what the Demiurge was hiding from them: gnosis (enlightenment).
