I used to be frustrated by it. Now I just throw my hands up in the air. They will never reconsider their ideas. they are too dogmatic. Now I find them mostly humorous, except when they try to change school curriculums. That's when they upset me.

They don't embarass me. I'm an evolutionist but I'm not an ape either. My physical body evolved from lower forms of life but that which makes me a human, my Free Will and Abstract Thinking, were gifts from God.
I've yet to see an ape or chimpanzee deliver a Sunday sermon.
The rest of the "developed world" has a huge percentage of babboons in it, if you can abstract my meaning.

If you travel you may find yourself questioning that assumption that the U.S. is the most technologically advanced country in the world. I've seen some things in France and Japan that we don't have here.
Yes, I do think it's quite embarrassing that we have so many loud creationists and that they have such influence here.

Are we still the most technologically advanced country in the world? I thought Japan succeeded us a while ago... It does bother me though. It's not so much the idea that we evolved from apes, it's their adherence to Christianity. They ridicule the idea we come from apes, because they're close minded, and it's pretty much the only argument their pastors have. I've seen apes capable of more logical thinking.

I am ambivalent about this. I am embarrased by such pathetic ignorance and furious that ignorant men try to hold us back with such nonsense. If they had their way, we would soon be behind the world, rather than leading it. ID is quite harmful. Incidentally, we did not evolve from apes. We are their cousins, not their children. Both evolved from common primate ancestors.

The answer for me is no and a little.
I don't get embarassed about other people's actions. Their actions have nothing to do with me.
I do get a bit frustrated, though, because I want people to know the truth, that evolution is not a threat to anyone. It just IS.
I need to learn to not get frustrated about what other people believe. It doesn't reflect upon me.

I'm not so embarrassed by their lack of critical thinking faculties, I'm embarrassed that they think this is an important piece of ground to 'win'. Where evolution has any impact on our daily lives, it's a matter of a scientist picking an animal to test some food or cosmetic or drug on - they don't buy creationism and that's all that matters. If the barista at Starbucks thinks creationism vs evolution matters and lets him make a better latte, he's smoking crack. (and I mean no offense to Starbucks baristas - they're generally pretty good (SMART) people - I just thought it would be unfair to characterize the opposition by comparing them to the garbage truck driver believing creationism had anything to do with HIS job).

Well what can I do about it? This group is always busy talking and then the media loves a freak show. The millions of intelligent, educated Americans are not quite the great show that the nutty crowd is. So I am easy with it, it doesn't embarrass me...

I find it embarrasing, yes. But, frustrating, as well. It's like that Tom Hanks movie, "Big." A little boy in a man's body. That's how I see theists. They've never grown up, intellectually.
