Well if you haven't seen any evidence that Jesus lived, you haven't looked very hard. Now if you had said God, I can see your point a little more although I personally disagree with that too. But Jesus, the man who walked on this earth? Get serious. You might as well say the same about every historical figure who ever was written about. Evidence is aplenty, if you're not closed minded. You may have many Christian friends. Who knows, your boss may be a Christian. That doesn't excuse your beliefs which go contrary to what Jesus himself taught.
Hate may be a a strong word but it if used in the biblical sense, it applies. Don't back away from your belief system.

I'm not an atheist but a close cousin of it - agnostic. And, yeah, I get the same thing, people saying that I hate god and Jesus and that I'm rejecting God's Word.
No, I'm not. I did my research and I don't hate anybody. Jesus was probably a cool dude, ok? He probably did exist. But he was not god or the son of god.
I keep telling people, "Look, if there was solid PROOF. I mean, actual, measurable PROOF of god (not the bible) then I would be on board with the rest of you. But, there is no proof and the stories in the Bible are an insult to intelligence if you expect me to believe in them."
I don't dislike all Christians, I'm friends with some and most of my extended family members are Christians. I don't like a lot of Christians because of their hatred and hypocrisy, that's true. But I will be fine with someone who is a Christian that doesn't try to convert me or insult me or my friends who might happen to be gay or of another religion. I'm not putting up with ignorance and hatred. From anyone, no matter what religion.

I know what you mean. Look at Socrates. Here's a guy that supposedly laid the foundations of Western philosophical thought, and no one knows for sure if he even really existed except in Plato's mind. When my Philosophy professor told me that, I almost went nuclear. Here's a guy I had loved reading about since high school, and here comes this philosophy professor (she has her Ph.d in Philosophy from I believe Oxford University) telling us that there is absolutely no concrete evidence that Socrates ever existed. I thought, "How dare this woman shake up my belief system like this." Darned scholars, anyway.

I've personally never met a Christian that accused me of hating them, or Jesus. I have been told that I was going to burn in hell, and I've been accused of being a "devil worshiper". I think it's basic human nature to fear the unknown. I feel that I've been very lucky, most people that I've met that find out that I'm an atheist are curious about the "whole deal".

For the same reason that some atheists think that Christians consider themselves better than atheists - simple misunderstanding of the other person and their views.
I can understand how atheists feel toward Christians - it's the same way I feel toward people who believe the "global warming" story. Here is how I feel about the global warming bunch, and I'll bet it's very similar to how most atheists feel about most Christians (and certainly about Christianity)
I think that the people of your group (GW) mean us all well. I think that you really believe that you know something that we've all missed and you'd like to save us from our wicked ways. But I believe that you have been deceived, and you are mistaken. I think that if you want to "do your thing", that's fine, but please don't tell me that I must also, and PLEASE don't try to pass laws requiring the rest of us to adhere to your beliefs.
Is that about how atheists feel about Christians?

no evidence! your not looking very hard are you.weres the evidence for socrates,plato,budda,nero,etc... the list could keep going.no but you single out jesus.there are almost 25,000 old writings telling about the bible, jesus. nobody in human history has more writings than jesus and the bible.you singled out jesus because if you can explain him away then you can justify your sin in your life.deep down your scared that this jesus MAY be real.so you try different areas (like this ? you ask)or your trying to get info to disprove him. GOOD LUCK.yes my friend there is god son jesus christ. and he will be your judge on judgement day.

As a Catholic I have quite a few Atheist friends and only one of them admits to hating God, having said this however all of recognize that he has great anger inside due to his father who was cruel to him as a child and it is understandable that he should feel like this,as for the rest they have no such animosity and are very respectful to me and my faith.

Hello Athiest
To Christians what you believe is of a anti-christ spirit and message. This is sure to rub them the wrong way. As for your friends if you cant even share the faith they hold dear, so how good of friends are you?

I don't know - my Dad's an atheist and he doesn't hate Jesus, he just doesn't believe he is God's Son. He doesn't believe there is a God or a devil! It is true people who love God usually don't get along with those who don't. What has light to do with darkness? Check out www.3abn.org
