i have a doberman puppy
and we just got it's ears cropped,
and they dont stand up unless they are alert, aren't they suppose to stand up all the time?

You really shouldn't have stopped taping them if they weren't standing up all the time. That's what keeps the cartilidge in the proper position while it develops. That's why after 2 months old or so you can't get them cropped...the cartilidge has developed. Our doberman's ears are up 100% of thetime, unless she's in trouble. Then she lays them back against her head. Her ears have been standing since about 3 weeks after her surgery. She had it done at about 7 weeks old, and she's 7 months old now.

That means the vet that cropped his ears did a bad job, I had a dobbie that one ear would lay down, I took him to another vet and had to have it fixed.

You mentioned that they are cropped, are they taped as well. If cropped and taped properly they should stand up once everything is healed and set in place.

I thought they were supposed to when you got there ears cut.
