The package on the finger brush says every day- I was thinking I would try to do it twice a week. Anyone else have an older dog who brushed more or less often and the results? Opinions?

I do my German Shepard 1 to 2 x per month. it really is not necessary to brush a dogs teeth too often. The best product is your own. Mix the following together.
1 tablespoon of Baking Soda
1 dash of table salt
1 teaspoon of water
Make a paste and brush your dogs teeth with a dog finger brush. They do not like the taste so much but this will not make them sick and it is great for doggy breath too. Also safe for human use.
Show your dog the water bowl after you brush and they will drink.
I hope you find this helpful it really works for my dog very well.

Ideally you would want to brush your dog's teeth every day, but every other day would be fine as well. Is he good about having them brushed? There are a lot of products out there now that will help with dental health. Dog biscuits are not going to keep the teeth clean. There is nothing as good as actual hands-on brushing, but you can supplement that with other things. The bottom line is that home dental care will decrease the need to put your pet under general anesthesia to clean their teeth. It's so important, not just for bad doggy breath and dental disease, but also for all the organs in the body that are affected by poor dental health.

There is not rather a change honestly, my vet instructed me. The puppy teeth paste businesses simplest cause them to since individuals believe they must use that on their puppies and not anything else. Just do not use a rather robust teeth paste use one thats for sons and daughters with a taste so your puppy wont get mad while you pass to sweep its enamel. As for the comb it's not relevant both the one change is while you purchase one for a puppy it frequently comes with this plastic factor to place for your finger and positioned paste on and use that as an alternative of a teeth brush since its less difficult however a constant teeth brush is satisfactory simply be delicate and get a delicate one. Good good fortune!

It sounds like a marketing scheme to get you to use their product more than necessary. Twice a week is plenty. Many people don't brush their dog's teeth at all, so you're doing excellent if you do it twice a week!

I do my 3 about 3 - 4 times a week, plus they get a raw knuckle bone every 2 weeks to help keep their teeth and gums in good shape.

Twice is nice.
I would say the main thing is getting the dog to let you do this. We had a dog years ago and though we gave him Dog Biscuits for cleaning teeth, he still had plak. I was in charge of playing Dentist and bought a Dental Tool and cleaned his teeth. My Vet later said I did a good job ............... but, it was "not" easy. lol

Dogs don't need their teeth brushed. Give them dog biscuits. By chewing them they dislodge all the plaque on their teeth. It's the reason they make dog biscuits.
