It depends where abroad your going as you can cet plug adaptors so your plugs fit but certain countrys use 110 volts and we use 240volts so that would be no good what you need is a voltage transformer that takes 110v and changes it to 240v and also has a polarity switch as some countries the polarity is reversed so one without one wouldnt help I hope this helps the other thing is if you buy the travel devices ie iron, kettle or hairdryer most of the new ones have built in transformers so have a built in switch to change voltage for different countries

If it's something like a mobile phone charger or a laptop charger, the voltage range it takes usually covers the difference between europe and USA for example. In that case, all you need is a plug adaptor.
There will be some items that will not accept a different voltage, for those you will need a heavy transformer, which won't be much fun explaining at the security desk as you check in to your flight!
But check the info in the manual or on a sticker on what you want to take for the voltage range.

You can goto Walmart or Radio Shack they will have a "Power Converter" kits .Make sure the kit comes with different types of connections for different countries, as they vary form place to place. they were $20 to $40 last time I bought one. The are simple to use...put the adapter on the converter plugs, plug in the converter and plug in you device to the back of you converter.
The link in the "sources" section should be all you need.
In the U.S. we use 120 Volt AC and Most of the world uses 240 AC. The converter steps down the voltage so that your equipment can be charged. Laptops, cell phones, and batteries should be fine to charge. Just remember these converters are lower end and should not be used to run stuff like TV's or xbox's, but you can run a boom box.

i might wager that it has reached terminal decline. In different words it particularly is junk now. the everyday reason US voltage is one hundred fifteen / 230 60 hz and the united kingdom 230 /460 /4 hundred reckoning on the section. the U. S. makes use of 230v for the type, cooker your talk, washer etc and one hundred fifteen for something television, toaster lamps etc. you're able to correctly be fortunate and discover the kit has a SM playstation which covers ninety to 250 volt and you have basically blown the lamps, yet I guess not.

you need an adaptor plug to make the plugs fit.
If your going to europe then the voltage is similar enough that you don't need to worry about it.
If your going further afield where they have 110 volts then you may need a voltage converter, as well as an adaptor. - However, travel products are multivoltage. Phones, cameras, camcorders, travel irons and most travel stuff are multi voltage. They will say something like 110v~220v. Have a look.

They sell an adapter for this. I think places like Radio Shack, Best Buy etc. have them. Probably less than $10.
