The term "under God" was not in the original Pledge. It does not belong there.

Since it was not in the original pledge of allegiance, it should be taken out. The pledge is allegiance to the flag which is the symbol of the Federal Government. One cannot serve two masters, so either take "under god" out of the pledge or face the fact that you have chosen the Federal Government as god's representative. I do not want the Government, at any level, involved with anything religious, moral or spiritual, since the only reason the Government gets involved with anything is to increase its control. It twists all things to it's own purpose, by whatever means necessary. Right now it has used religious morals wrapped in laws and government policy to persuade you to vilify and marginalize your own neighbors, family and friends or be vilified and marginalized along with them. Not sure how, then look at the War on Drugs, the War on Terror and the War on Poverty.

Sad that Madeline up there got a thumbs down for stating the fact that "Under God" was added in 1954.

"In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, 'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public prayer."

Think about the Pledge. The phrase 'under God' was added sixty-two years after the Pledge was originally written. And - how's this for arrogance - where did they stick it? Right in the middle of 'one nation indivisible'!

Yes, we do have the protected freedoms of the original constitution created by the christian founding father, although limited these days, but no, we are not a nation entirely built under God. You should go on to google and search for things about this. Strongly recommended.

they didn't add under God to the pledge until the late 50's. Its funny that the fascists of today love the pledge so much, considering it was written by a socialist.

I don't even know why it was added to the pledge. Did you know that the pledge was changed to add "under god?" Taking "under god" will make the pledge historically accurate.

Yep. The courts will eventually have to hear it. They avoided it the last time on a technicality because they know that the 1954 law is unconstitutional and they didn't want to put out such an unpopular decision. But someone will hit a case that is good and they will win in the lower court, so the Supreme Court will have to take it.

I believe at some point in time God is going to be removed from the Pledge and from OUR currency, because in all honesty,Christians have become complacent in issues concerning their EQUAL rights. Anything concerning the Christian belief is fast becoming politically and socially incorrect while others are given free reign. Christians need to rigorously fight for their rights all the while remembering that others also have equal rights.
The fact of the matter is that even if God were taken out of our country, He can't be taken and erased from our hearts, and isn't that what really counts?

I think it will happen, not everyone is theist and anyway why should theists need to be humoured in this way, it's insulting and divisive , One Nation under Shiva? One Nation Under Allah? One Nation Under a Theocratic Delusion?
