The weather in Aussie varies.

The weather in South Eastern Australia (Melbourne & Sydney) experiences a warm temperate climate.

The east coast (Coffs Harbour & Brisbane to Rockhampton) has subtropical weather.

The weather on the northern coasts of Queensland (Cairns & Townsville) has tropical weather with wet summers and drier winters.

Northern Australia (Darwin & Broome) has tropical weather with hot wet summers and very dry winters.

Central Australia (Alice Springs) has weather similar to desert conditions with the summers being very hot and the winters being mild. Very little rainfall during most of the year.

Perth and Adelaide have hot dry summers and mild wet winters.

Tasmania has cool temperate weather.

Australia is a big place, bigger than the USA (without Alaska). The best source of weather information is the Bureau of Meteorology at http://www.bom.gov.au You will find everything you want to know about Australia's weather there.

Quite unseasonal heavy rain at the moment on the east coast. A state of emergency has been declared for areas around Newcastle. There have been many blackouts due to storm activity and lots of families have been evaciuated due to flooding. Sydney and the central coast are the worst hit. It's also cold as its winter but most places don't go below freezing. Near the coast is warmest and the water is still a good temp. for swimming! (around 20o celsius)
