I was thinking of the inability of Christians to find fault with God, despite the fact there is much with which to find fault.

But there are other aspects.

Consider the 'token' demonstrations of punishment for those who rebel: Satan tossed into Hell, Adam and Eve tossed out of Eden, the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah ...

Consider that death awaits those who refuse their master's orders.

Consider Paul's instructions to treat authority as God-given, and to be good slaves for your masters.

Consider Jesus' instructions to endure all things, to not look for joy in this world, but rather in the next.

Over and over the instruction is to not make a fuss, not make a scene, just do as your told and have faith in your Master.

Does this not breed a slave mentality?

The only book that American slaves were allowed to read was the Bible. That should tell us something.

There is not question that atheists have morals. I know several atheists who object to abortion because they believe it to be immoral. I have absolutely no doubt atheists have moral, I myself had them when I was an atheist. I reject the premise that Christian morality is reduced to simply sexual morality, that may be where many Christians and atheists diverge in their moral beliefs but that is not the end all be all of Christian moral beliefs. And yes, yes many Christian throughout history have fallen far short of your measuring stick, not surprising since Christians admittedly fall short of God's measuring stick. I imagine your stick to be much shorter than God's, no offense. It is not that Christians ignore evils, it is how do we go about correcting them without being evil ourselves. In addition Christians have no delusions of grandeur than make us believe that we can dispense of an evil. You can take money away from rich people and give it to poor people, but if you think that this is not stealing, then you are kidding yourself. It is not that we want people impoverished, it is that we do not believe that economy is a zero sum game, so that we should become thieves ourselves. You can give your own money to a homeless person who uses it to buy drugs, but if you think you are not enabling that behavior and that black market, then again you are kidding yourself. It is not that we want people to be homeless, but we know that are often homeless for a reason we have a system to help such people that does not allow for us to be taken for fools. The poor, the tyrannical, the greedy, the cheats, the lazy, the hateful, the liars, have always been with us, and until the day that God sees fit to dispose of such evils, we will always have them. Hope that helps.

well think that Bob Dylan put it best. You have to serve somebody.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

which comes directly from Jesus teaching in John chapter 8

14 15 Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,
32
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
33
They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. 16 How can you say, 'You will become free'?"
34
Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
35
A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son 17 always remains.
36
So if a son frees you, then you will truly be free.
37
I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you.
38
18 I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the Father."

I sometimes wonder which came first, the "slaves" or the "masters."

Everywhere I look, humans create demigods: actors, people who play sports, politicians, authors, doctors . . .

I truly don't understand why anyone would want to "worship" anything.

I found this a while back, I don't remember where I got it, but I thought it was fitting for this question.

Christian School song (unofficial):

I've learned enough to stay afloat
But not so much I rock the boat
I'm glad they shoved it down my throat
I want to be a clone
I once was lost; I once was blind
But now my parts are realigned
My church is an assembly line
I want to be a clone.

If so, then so does ISLAM, it also mentions slaves. Why pick on just Christians, that is a valid point. What, afraid of Car Bombs!

BUT, in the JEWISH part of the BIBLE it states YOU MUST FREE your slaves in the 7th year.

Many American Christians did that in the 1600s with blacks, because their RULES said they had to.

The DIESTS like Jefferson and Washington didn't. They kept them forever.

You also neglected to mention DIESTS!

That's ONE very sad thing about R&S and maybe Yahoo should start REALLY enforcing the rules.

There is far too much BLATANT BIGOTRY here.

BIGOTRY is picking on ONE group or CLASS of people, exclusively and without valid merit.

WHEN OTHERS also have slaves, once HAS to include them in the equation, to do otherwise is bigoted.

X-ianity has servant(slave) mentality & is division-all.
Christ-ianity ascended higher than servant vs servant.
For God cannot be one by division; But is one by unity.

Faulty (False) God on high is Law Law.
The only true God, in heaven, is Grace.

Immortal Grace cannot lie (law) nor die (law).
Mortal & Faulty Law Law notably does both.

Grace neither tempts(laws) nor can be tempted(lawed).
Law Law notably does both: tempts and gets provoked.

Above a servant is neither of servants vs servants
http://www.godshew.org/AboveAServant.htm

More Excellent: neither Broadmindead nor Narrowmindead.

POINT: Grace is neither of two laws in Mt 22:36-40 law law.

The GRACE(ONLY) of our Lord J->C with you->all. Amen.

Yes it does and that is the reason why it cannot possibly be the faith that Jesus taught to His disciples. Be smart, follow The Spirit of truth, not the bible.

You say that Christians have an in ability to find fault in God, but I wonder if you should instead be asking your self if many atheists are too eager to find fault.

This is what happens when you translate a book from another language, things get lost or changed in translation. Then someone has to take it out of context to try and prove some idiotic point.
