Don't let kids drink coffee, I used to drink coffee all the time, when I was little. I used to sneak and drink the left over coffee out of my fathers cup when I was 3, my grandparents used let me have it when I was a child as well. Giving kids coffee is like giving kids drugs, caffeine is a drug, it took me 3 years to stop drinking coffee (I'm 27) and went through withdrawal symptoms and everything.

I started somewhere about 10-12 years old, mostly out of necessity. I'm asthmatic and the caffeine helped with it, so my parents allowed me to start drinking a half cup of coffee a day, which gradually moved up to a full cup over the years. It is up to the parents discretion. My 16 year old stepdaughter has a cup of coffee every once in a while (every few months) and has been for a year or so now (no interest before that). The biggest problem is the caffeine effect, and the side effect of not having coffee when your body is used to it.

I've been drinking coffee for about 2 years now, and used to take small sips when I was younger, and I'm 13... I't hasn't seemed to do much to me although some may say the caffeine is bad and can stunt growth, but basiclly, it is all about personal opinion. It's your choice when to decide to let your children drink coffee or when you want to drink it.

At 15 i wanted to drink coffee but when my mom told that coffee will prevent me from growing tall i chose not to drink. I still believe it has an affect on height from what i observed on some of my friends that started drinking coffee very young they are pretty short.
