Mankind also has a tendency to think that inanimate abjects have a "controlling spirit" (haven't you ever yelled at your car when it breaks down?), that doesn't make it true.
Religions have done little to bring peace to the world. They have brought a lot more violence.
Rational thinking is easier than you think.

You voice an opinion which is not based in fact for if one stops and thinks, which you did not, you would realize that you were born without the need nor knowledge of any gods. Primitive societies in their ignorance crated thousands upon thousands of gods in their vain attempt to come to terms with, identify with and explain that which they felt was significant in life but did not understand. One should bare in mind that as man became more aware and able most of those gods have been resigned to myth, lore and legend or simply forgotten. You actually have "no" witnesses only the fables written by ancient and ignorant man. You seem ignorant of the fact that faiths, religions and beliefs has perpetrated more deaths than any other concept. You ask if Atheism has a concept which would bring world peace and that is "Tolerance". The acknowledgment that no two people perceive the same thing or event in the same way. That all are entitled to their interpretations as long as it does no harm to their fellow man. This is fare more than religions, faiths and beliefs have practiced both in the past and today

God was a superstitious attempt to explain the universe. We have merely moved on from that point.
Do religous folks have a plan for world peace other than extermination of everyone not of their own faith? No
As far as witness consensus or approval well yes we do from most of the brightest minds on the planet. But really truth doesnt need you to agree as gallileo would point out.
In regards to your 124,000 witnesses of god well... just because alot of people believe something WITHOUT PROOF does not mean I have to.
Truth is only found by looking and asking the question and NEVER by going along with the status quo.
YOU ARE WRONG but as long as you dont try to legislate your beliefs you are entitled to be.

Yet another inane question. We happen to be primates, in case you've never looked at a science book. We are not evolved from monkeys. We are evolved from the family of the Great Apes, most likely chimps, since we share 98.5% of the same genes. The way in which it happened is a theory, since no one was around to see leave written records. We know that at some point animals very similar to chimps began to walk upright (this occurred when Africa was drying up and the savannah was forming). Walking upright was a big advantage for these critters, as if freed up their hands. With free hands they began to make stone tools, and since they ate a lot of meat, their brains grew quickly. Several lines of hominids came from these critters. Neanderthals were also quite similar to us, but for some reason they died out and we didn't. That makes homo sapiens the only humans in the primate tree.

yet another closed minded speach, thanks for that...
listen, there are so many people who have mental illnesses who think they're god or the son of god, or gods wife whatever the hell they come up with, so your 124k witnesses werent the first and they wont be the last...
you know there was a time where the entire world accepted that the earth was flat, or that sea monsters and mermaids existed, with plenty of sightings... your arguement is full of holes and im not even atheist. sorry, but you can't convert and you can't change, once you take your religious fundamentals to heart and start accepting people for who they are like all of the good ones preach then maybe people will listen to you.
open your eyes to the world around you, once you accept the truth you'll be a lot happier... your answer works for you, mine works for me so climb down from your soap box!

Atheists have done more for human society than all your delusional "prophets" put together. That would be because atheists are both intelligent and sane. There isn't a shred of proof for the existence of any god, and there's a simple reason for that. Gods don't exist.

So because thousands of people say something is true, it must surely be so, is that what you're saying? Then who are we to believe? The millions who believe in Christianity or the millions who believe in Islam? And what about the millions on millions of people who once believed the Earth was flat until it was proven otherwise?
Your "logic" has too many holes to address.

If God or religion could bring peace I would have expected some positive result from it by now, but after 5,000 years there are none.
It seems that religion only makes things worse.

Rain drenched chimpanzees can sometimes be seen shaking sticks at the sky. Religion is older than humanity. Think beyond the paradigms of one book.
We do not tell you how to think, merely that you should, so that you may be free.
