Catholics are not afraid of martyrdom.

Amnesty International claims (http://web.amnesty.org/pages/aboutai-index-eng ) to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted and proclaimed by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948 (http://web.amnesty.org/pages/aboutai-udhr-eng ) which states:

Article 2.1 Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, BIRTH OR OTHER STATUS.

Article 3: Everyone has the right to LIFE, liberty and security of person.

This declaration does not include "abortion" rights and infers rights upon EVERYONE but AI is adding anti-human abortion rights to the list of rights it wishes to support: http://news.amnesty.org/index/ENGPOL300122007

Amnesty International (AI) needs to support human rights for all humans, including the unborn.

Catholics believe that life is a sacred gift from God and needs to be treated with all human dignity from the moment of conception to the point of natural death.

The Catholic Church is not just against torture, capital punishment, and abortion; it is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
+ All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
+ The unborn in objecting to abortion, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
+ The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanasia
+ Prisoners in objecting to torture and the death penalty
+ The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.

With love in Christ.

I've been wondering about how promoting/believing that God gave us free will jibes with some groups desire to impose their particular dogma on people. Even more telling to me is their refusal to support access to birth control. It really seems not so much a defense of life as a wish to dictate the terms of life for others. I do feel that it is their right to support or not support what they choose but Amnesty International is involved in many positive programs and works and this is just a small part of Amnesty International's work in making the world a better place. I agree this won't have much affect since they weren't supporting them anyway. I continue to support the efforts of groups like Amnesty International and women's rights to self determination over their own bodies and life choices even if they make different decisions than I would.

Thou shalt not kill.
Are you for abortion?
That is the real question posed in the article cited.
It is the terrible sin of rape, a sin that cries out to heaven, that some young women become pregnant - but another sin on top of the first is not the answer. Women deserve better than that. Have you known a woman who had an abortion and the deep emotional, psychological, spiritual and sometimes physical scarring it leave her with? (Do you know it also leaves them more prone to cancer?)
The church does allow for the health of the pregnant woman when that is the primary issue in certain valid situations. And through its vast network of social services has always been a leader in providing for those in need, including pregnant woman.
Instead of killing the children, instead of damaging the mother further, let's work to protect them. It is not through their fault but our fault in not protecting the mother in the first place. The burden is on us communally to stop this and to help the women and children.
God bless us and let's protect the dignity of all people made in His image, born and unborn.
P.S.Thanks for bringing up the question, "Scapegoat."

Foolish question.

You had better run and hide before the black helicopters come for you.

Thanks for the two points.
