There is no evidence that Jesus existed:

http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm

Excerpt:
"No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

"Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

"Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it."

His divinity was not given to Him by the church (the church you refer to was actually the 3rd church in existence and there have been several other since).

Jesus showed His divine nature in the fulfilment of OT prophesies in every way (including the crucifixion). The age we live in now is the fulfilment of the rest of the prophesies in both the OT and especially the NT, especially in regard to the inclusion of the gentile nations of the world.

The second problem is in the statement (made by Jesus) "No one comes to the Father except through me." If Jesus were a man and not God then this statement would be false (as there were many who died before Jesus lived who would have gone to the Father) If Jesus lied or was not God (divine) then there would be major problems in the Bible.
For those reading this who want to say 'there already are major problems in the Bible' I ask - Show me 1 (one). I have yet to find any.

I believe Jesus is God.
He died, but rose again !!!!
and ascended up to heaven.

He wasn't given deity (or didn't need to at least)
but claimed himself to be God.
People mocked him therefore, though He proved to be more than a simple man.
He was either a liar, a lunetic or The Lord.
You can't do good things being a liar or a lunetic, so He could only be who He claimed to be.

However, though this is all logical, that's not why I believe He is God.
After accepting Him as my Lord and Savior, my life just changed !!!

He CHANGES lives :-)

MIracles still happen in His name and through His power!

I don't believe that Jesus was anything more than a cult leader. When the Bible was written (containing no writings by Jesus himself), his story was twisted to make it fit pre-existing prophecies regarding a "Messiah". For some reason, the people who wrote the Bible changed major details of Jesus' life to make it look like he had been this anticipated Messiah, then sold a whole lot of people a phony bill of goods.

Yes very much so,Christ’s divinity is shown over and over again in the New Testament. For example, in John 5:18 we are told that Jesus’ opponents sought to kill him because he "called God his Father, making himself equal with God."

In John 8:58, when quizzed about how he has special knowledge of Abraham, Jesus replies, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am"—invoking and applying to himself the personal name of God—"I Am" (Ex. 3:14). His audience understood exactly what he was claiming about himself. "So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple" (John 8:59).

In John 20:28, Thomas falls at Jesus’ feet, exclaiming, "My Lord and my God!" (Greek: Ho Kurios mou kai ho Theos mou—literally, "The Lord of me and the God of me!")

In Philippians 2:6, Paul tells us that Christ Jesus "[w]ho, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped" (New International Version). So Jesus chose to be born in humble, human form though he could have simply remained in equal glory with the Father for he was "in very nature God."

Also significant are passages that apply the title "the First and the Last" to Jesus. This is one of the Old Testament titles of Yahweh: "Thus says Yahweh, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, Yahweh of armies: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; besides me there is no god’" (Is. 44:6; cf. 41:4, 48:12).

This title is directly applied to Jesus three times in the book of Revelation: "When I saw him [Christ], I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand upon me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the First and the Last’" (Rev. 1:17). "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the First and the Last, who died and came to life’" (Rev. 2:8). "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense, to repay every one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the beginning and the end" (Rev. 22:12–13).

I believe in the divinity of Jesus

I also believe that he will be rejected as promised in Isaiah 53 because I as a Jew rejected him too-but now=he was already born at the perfect time to a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 a miracle sign a virgin will be with child who is God with us=imanuel in Hebrew)
He had to come before the temple was destroyed -which had the last way to point to Jesus in the temple blood sacrifice to cover our sins. Leviticus 17:11 -all the way back to Adam when God slew a animal to cover their sins and clothe them pubicly.

this is how I know this is true and know Jesus as my savior and best friend

As a Jew I prayed "Jesus thanks for dying for my sins and offering to come into my heart and be my friend, I am sorry please forgive my sins, come into my heart and be my friend, amen."

He PROMISED this "I love you and knock on your heart door to come in and forgive your sins and be your friend when you ask me in repenting quickly for your sins." Revelation 3:19&20

Jesus stated "I am the way the truth, and the life, no one comes unto heaven, but by me." John 14:6

Daniel in the Jewish scriptures teaches "To those that go to the grave, Hell is abhorance apart from God forever, Heaven is everlasting life."

Jesus taught about it in Mathew 24 as weeping forever with gnashing teeth for rejecting His salvation. and in Revelation 19-22 IN this 22nd chapter he also says to the writers of books after the bible "If you add to my word you will recieve plagues to your life."

Since I have come to know Jesus as my savior Messiah, and best friend-I have that joy and assurance, he corrects me when i think wrong and helps me to help others, not to reject him and think my own blood will atone for my sins-If you have sin you cant forgive sin with your own impurites. As Isaiah teaches too Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will die for our sins and then see his seed and prosper"

He came at the perfect time-if he was born now-for 2,000 years since 70 bce when the temple was destroyed, because he fulfilled the temple blood atonement as ordered (Leviticus 17:11) to cover sins and point to Jesus the Messiah our forgiveness of sins.

Publicly-there is a difference-Now Jesus is my Messiah, savior and best friend-

praying the best for you too,--Jesus does come spiritually every day to be our friend-and he will return from heaven this time-Acts 1:11 with pierce marks and my Jewish people will mourn as a mother for her only lost child (Zechariah 12:10).

Best wishes my friend, David in my Divine best friend Jesus
