Reading would be the best way... but since you seem to be a little against books, how about magazines? There are hundreds of magazines on different topics. They all come with pictures (which should make them interesting) and often they broaden your mind in ways you've never thought before.
Reading articles on Wikipedia is also something I do on a regular basis. You learn so much about different peoples and places, it's amazing! Don't forget to check words you find difficult to understand on dictionary.com.
Watching TV can also help. Example, MTV for the typical teenager is fun to watch, but it doesn't always teach you something you don't know. But if you watch something like Crime Scene Investigators or Planet Eart (aka Nature), I'm sure you'll start learning about things you didn't know before.
Btw, why are you against reading? you can always start with books in the Youth section of the library and then expand from there....

Reading is a great way, listening to music is another cool way. I have learned spanish by listening to Spanish music. Next is Japanese. Try watching shows that usually uses vocabulary you have never heard of also.

Dont just read, but read with a dictionary by your side and look up words you dont know the meanings of and make a note of them, and then try to implement them in your speech and writing. Or, you could do simple crosswords, again witth the aid of a dictionary and thesaurus- that would be more fun i guess

OK.
Read a magazine.
Read newspapers.
Read on the internet.
Read maps.
Read music.
If you want to expand your vocabulary, you need to learn new words. And the junk you have on your ipod doesn't count.
