i wouldnt worry too much.
some programs are just bastards and dont include an uninstall button
removing programs from the control panel is safe and effective. But if you really want to put a shortcut on your desktop, Rmouse click the 'add/remove button' and then select 'create shortcut'
just that easy, good luck

You should be able to change the 'Sort by' setting in the option box just next to the 'Show Updates' check box in the 'Add/Remove programs', just below the minimize, maximize, close buttons. ... There are 4 options which are : Name, Size, Frequency of use and Date last used. Just change back to 'Name'. In this option you can change or remove programs. .. .Programs like CCleaner and Spybot Search&Destroy can also remove programs .... May be somebody used your computer and changed the setting. .. Last resort I would use is to search for the program folder(s) in the C: drive and delete in safe mode.

Are you on a network? Your Adminisrator may of made you a user. Only Power Users and administrators can add or remove programs. What operating system do you have?If your not on a network, notice that all server and proffesional operating systems allow you change you user status by yourself. Such as Windows 2000 Pro, XP Pro, 2003 server, and i think Vista business. Just go to START, and click SETINGS, and go to CONTROL PANEL. Under USERS AND PASSWORDS change your status to a power user or an administrator. But only log on as an administrator to do an administrator-exclusive task. Trojan Horse code csn be downloaded only on Administrator accounts and can really screw up your computer.

Is the programme still installed? Try looking up its directory and finding an executable file named uninstall or anything which resembles that or has an icon of a bin.
If you cant find such an icon i suggest just deleting the folders that contain the programme. This may be in Program Files, its in alphabetical order so its easy to find. Try looking for a uninstall file in it first though.

This sounds to me like the registry for add/remove has been corrupted somehow... You can still uninstall program manually by going to the program's Main directory...The easiest way of doing that is right clicking the link that launches the program, then click properties, then in the program's main directory look for the uninstall.exe icon...this will remove the program.

You may have a virus. There are alot of Trojans out there that will restrict your admin funcdtions so you won't get rid of them...
